That's what I hate on this forum. Wind up merchants who say interesting things & don't back it up with a link or anything.
This is not the first time this has happened. I have done a facebook search & cannot find anything apart from a general info page on 45699.

Why jump to the conclusion that Steam_mad is a wind up merchant, no doubt he posted that in good faith only for the picture to be removed....

Perhaps you would now like to apologise to steam_mad for accusing him of being a wind up merchant.

Thank you steam_mad :high5: Shame they're running out of time for a test run this year as they were hoping, but the beginning of next year is looking good, hopefully

Going off how that layer of swarf is obscuring the shine from the paint, I wonder if she's been nearly ready for some time but been held back by a few nagging gremlins?

I had been told back at the end of august (at the llangollen gala) she was all painted and nearly ready by someone who had been into see her the week before.

steam_mad, many thanks for the heads-up. What a coup! First picture, and all that... Anyway, it's been a long time coming, & will be well worth the wait. Considering that she was initially bought as a source of spares for Leander, she's another 'Lazarus' locomotive. Well done to all concerned.

It wouldn't surprise me if Smithy had Carnforth depot removed from Google Earth just like 'Area 51'
The first photos to appear of 45699 should be of the finished lined-out article in steam.

And what would have happened if you hadn't removed it I wonder.

Yes interesting question. Anyone with a legal background prepared to offer an answer?

Im guessing there is nothing that they could do, it may be private property but I doubt that there is anything illegal about taking pictures
