I think it was just dragged round from the local carriage/wagon works (can't remember where the road/rail drop-off point is nowadays). The main NRM building and its workshops are no accessible by road for oversize loads due to the bridges under the ECML.

Sits back and waits for incoming.

Seriously.......a grand sight, I'll bet York (or anywhere) has never seen a double headed job with 2 A 4's

First day back on the mainline for KOYLI for 30 years. Pretty good considering the state it was left in after DNLL had finished with it.

Excellent, Richard. I know LNER specialists will probably shoot me down for not knowing, but as mentioned few posts earlier re double heading A4's; would this EVER have been seen on a service train ???? Unless a failure, can't see it myself ??!! The driver of no 9 had a valuable train in tow there.

From the look of it number 9 only had charge of the train for about a mile.
If it had come down from Shildon then it must have gone down the freight lines round Holgate then reversed.
So the Deltic KOYLI would actually have had the major part to play.
No film of that bit then?

60008 was taken by road to York carriage works were the RHTTs are based. No9 and the deltic ran to the South Yard to collect the 37 then all 3 ran to the works to collect no8 and a few pictures of the A4s side by side were taken until working to Holgate and then to the NRM. Max speed of 10mph with no8.

60008 came by road from Shildon to York on Monday and was unloaded at the carriage works on Tuesday afternoon. It was then tripped round to the NRM's north yard by 60009 at the north of the consist and 55002 at the south end. D6700 was also included in the move to transfer it from the NRM's south yard to the north yard. A tempory air pipe was rigged through 60008.

60009 towed the load from the carriage works to Severus Jc. (York Yard North). 55002 then led the formation round to Holgate reception sidings, before 60009 took charge again to lead through the station to the TPE depot. Here the Deltic then dragged it all into the NRM. 60008 would have travelled less than two miles and never exceeded 10mph.

The first part of this move will soon become very familiar to keen observers as this is the route that will frequently be taken by locos accessing the new turntable when it is commissioned (?next month??)

    Hope this is of interest

Are there any plans to display 'Sir Nige', ' UoSA', 'Dwight D' and 'Mallard' together at the NRM when they're all at York on 1st December?

Today's Steam Railway report it as cost the NRM £100,000 to bring the A4's over included in that is more than 50 airline flights for Steve Davis and other NRM staff more on page 20.

£100,000 \50 trip = £ 2000 a trip (inc flights, hotels, meals etc, My immediate thought is it wasn't business class), so I doubt it was a Junkanoo. There was certainly a bunch of people involved in loading / unloading and preparation in 2 different locations... Paperwork related trips etc.
its easy to see red in a big expense figure but the devil is in the detail, and I suspect 1 trip by private jet with David Cameron costs more than everyone involved in this projects expenses... But as the journalists share that plane.. It's on their interests not to report it.
