I should think its been there for nearly 18 months. I suppose a case of working through the jobs list, so with 60103 in the NRM, the B12 back in East Anglia and 34046 nearly on the mainline, it can't be too far off in the queue, now. However, it remains to be seen how 45212's overhaul fits into the equation.

Work had already begun on the frames of 35027 before Braunton had arrived at Bury.

It appears that Braunton has one of the larger schedule of operations next year.

Interesting - 34046 is rostered for a few trips with Steam Dreams, and is due to run the RTC's Great Britain 5 from Taunton to Newquay with 34067 but what other excursions will it be working?

PS- just seen a partial answer to my own question. Some new RTC trips posted yesterday feature Braunton: http://www.railwaytouring.net/uk_day_trips

No I do not currently volunteer

We shall be booking the ACE of the 7th April. Two Bulleid's in one day on the routes they used to run along and steam banking between the two Exeter stations and all for a price less than a SD run with one loco.

On a more immediate note can anyone from the ELR confirm if it is likely to do any more running there please? This coming weekend for example? Thanks.

Just in case anyone else is wondering, according to the booking office at Bury it's the Jinty and 50015 today (Saturday). That's saved me the joys of the M62 two Saturdays in a row then... Over for the diesels next Saturday anyway.

In response to your query, Braunton has now been confirmed for the January Steam Gala at the East Lancashire Railway. It takes place on the weekend 19th-20th January.

I know this might be way out there, however it would be nice to see Braunton stretch her legs w/ either of Riley's 5's on the WCML and S&C on the 26th.

If the powers that be are kind to us, you might see it happen at Bury on the 19/20th

I'd settle for 34046's loaded test run happenning on Fri 25th, so I could make a long weekend of it. However, the chances are remote, I think!

It will be good to see Braunton at the ELR in two weeks time.

As far as mainline goes, wonder what are the chances of it visiting Chester, and going up the North Wales Coast. Can't remember the last time a Bullied loco going along there. Must be a good 20+ years.

I think that's probably right. Clan Line was there in 1989. also Taw Valley.

35005 visited Holyhead I think around 2000 while in the BR blue era, no doubt someone will firm up the dates! It was notable I believe for doing Chester to Holyhead without a water stop.

    Reported elswhere by Ian Riley:
"Braunton has fallen foul of GSMR.

Basically, GSMR is now 'live' in the areas when (sic) the loco is to operate, and the locomotive is not as yet fitted with the equipment."

so 34046 will remain at Bury unless towed south by a suitably fitted loco. Great news for ELR but an unfortunate hurdle for the long awaited return to the main line. Pity the rules have to change so often and so this couldn't have been dealt with during the repairs completed recently.

These are cab radios aren't they? How difficult are they to source/fit?
