Possibly because they had served their purpose; they were originally approved for comparison with LMS Diesels 10000 / 1 and were fitted with the latest fittings - including roller bearings as part of the comparison.

46233 will not be on display at Crewe heritage centre like expected tomorrow, it was the same today. Arrived and payed a fiver for entry to find no duchess present. She's been moved to the carriage sidings for some work to be done after an issue rose after yesterday's trip.

It is of my opinion that LMS passenger Locomotive look best in LMS Red.
GWR and BR locomotive look best in BR Green. No offense intended to Br Green Fans.

Quite liked seeing 46233 in green. It made a bit of a change.

Just announced she's currently booked for the ELR's October Steam Gala

Will she be in LMS red by then as IIRC this green was only meant to last a year?

Glad to hear it. That shall go onto the list for 6233 events.

My final say about the paint. I think there might be a color change for two reasons
    1. They are going to be annoucing new souveniers
    2. A 75th anniversary trip is a big deal and PRCLT may want her to be in the best of light.

Is there any possibility that she may be turned out in BR Red similar to 46203 or 46229 (before she was re-streamlined) for a change?

I don't think the PRCLT wish to do this as 46233 herself never carried this livery. I agree it would be nice though.

Hasn't stopped them painting 46203 in BR red. LMS red for 6233 with deflectors is also stretching a point - after 6 years of war service without a repaint I doubt she looked as smart as the preserved 6233 when the deflectors were fitted in 1946.

Speaking of 46203, what's the current plan with her?

If its changing livery that's about 8 operational months in green. Good value for the contributors?

I always thought the plan was 1 year in the winning livery before reverting back to LMS Crimson, they have kept up their end of the deal and had her green for 2012.

But isn't that effectively one mainline season. If they don't repaint during the winter, they'll be back into a running season again and won't have another opportunity until next winter.

Why am I even bothered about livery... :sigh: :eye gouge: eye gouge: ...

I thought the original plan was to have her in green for 12 months to two years?

Anyway, it's their engine and she'll look fine in any livery.

The PMR tours page for 2013 refers to the Duchess as 46233 and a picture of her in BR green in the 60's. Could she possibly just be getting a new coat of BR green before her big year?

Glad I had the chance to see, photograph and ride behind it in green. Might be just a freshen-up to turn her out in 'as-withdrawn' condition; ie. BR green with late crest and re-arranged cab numerals. However, it seems an excessive amount of work for more of the same, so it probably is going red. Doesn't bother me in the slightest as I'm intending to Bulleid-bash this year in any case with a few A4s and an A1 thrown in so far.
