I think we'd all prefer the lowest ISO given the choice, but in certain situations like last night currently it's basically a choice between High ISO or something only worthy of the delete button, certainly I'd say a time exposure is definetly the better method if your subject is static.

To be honest, I was more concerned with depth of field when using the 50MM F1.8 lens (though I never went below F2.8), but it doesn't seem too bad at all thus far.

Agreed. No point in using a higher ISO than is necessary but circumstances in the tunnels required much higher ISO than one would use out in the open or for a static subject underground.

Looking at the new times, presumably the extra runs are for staff? I remember reading there was a ballot for them too. Good to see the Gloucester Road reversal has survived too.

(i think this video illustrates what i mean about Met No1 shoving from the back, fantastic!)

I shot at f1.8 and from a quick look at my photos last night, I think I may have got better results by stopping down a bit. It also occurred to me that enjoying the spectacle without a camera and then enjoying looking at the best of others photos would have been more sensible.

Now the N2 with Quadarts would be nice, just a shame that the "Drain" is no longer there at Kings Cross and the Widened Lines severed at Farringdon.

Some brilliant pictures and videos on here. Especially love the sound of Met No.1 giving Sarah Siddons a hand when in reverse! Rather late but just one from me on the morning run:

150th Anniversary of London Underground 13th/20th January 2013 - a set on Flickr

Gutted to have not made it out for the evening but I had some Uni coursework for the Monday morning that needed to be done! Can't wait for next Sunday now.

There is one thing that has not been mentioned, on all the videos and stills I have seen, there has been plenty of steam but no dark smoke, the fireman/men must be congratulated on their efforts to keep the exhaust clean...

Out of interest, who crewed the runs. Are they LU staff who were active volunteers on heritage lines before this began?

I'm not sure whether this is correct, but I think the driver is from the Avon Valley...? I can't remember where I heard this - I think I heard it in London while waiting at Olympia Jc.

Please feel free to correct me though.

FlourMill works staff from Lydney. (they overhauled Met no 1).
Same crew may be doing something "interesting" with GWR 5521 later this year, currently receiving new tyres.

    Re: LU 150 plans...

Does anyone know if it's remained / remaining at Lillie Bridge Depot this week ahead of the second Sunday. Or gone / going back to Ealing Common Depot in the interim?
