Whilst looking on UKSteaminfo to see if there was any news about Braunton having a mainline test I have just noticed a LE move for Tangmere tomorrow from Southall to Carnforth. It does say to be confirmed at present.

Info I have been given is that Tangmere does move to Carnforth with the ECS but piloted by a diesel from Southall .

    Re: LE Movements

Ok thanks to both you and Stephen for the info. Was hoping for an early start to the mainline 2013 season even if only a LE move!

They weren't hanging about either Ralph, Tangers was doing her fair share :D

When they came round the bend, the Duff was doing a very good impression if OVB's Leader!

From my good friend who was also there.

    Re: LE Movements

Well that would really be to much for Tangmere on her own, certainly to maintain the sort of speed in the video clip.

I think I had better leave.. [IMG]

Especially on such a fearsome gradient, London to Carnforth is really steep :p

I see Olton Hall is moving from York back to Carnforth tomorrow - sorry, later today (Wed 16th). Away from the NRM at 09:56 then in and out of every loop and siding in the district, passing Colton Junction 14:10 and finally arriving at Carnforth at 18:00. Details in the usual place.

Didn't even think this was still operational, did it work at all in 2012 ?, last time in UK steam was September 2011, nothing in 2010 and 2 trips in 2009. Maybe its going back to Carnforth to give its NR electronics to 45699 ?, seems a very underused engine.

    Re: LE Movements

Just a thought - will this be the first steam loco to turn on the new turntable? I don't know the various places mentioned in the timings, but it seems to me the only explanation for all those reversals.

    Re: LE Movements

It is a unusual move as its running light engine rather than with a support coach.
