Be interesting to see what's next for it.
if Harry Potter is completed, and there's probably licensing issues with using it in red, maybe a repaint and move to Bristol for RTC's trips ? It has been a long time since its last overhaul, but then again its probably the least used mainline steam loco in recent memory.

Aren't RTC's trips DBS operated? If so that means air brake only & 5972 doesn't have air brakes.

No, RTC use WCRC. Also, note that DBS are not totally opposed to vacuum brakes as they operated 61994 last year on the Cathedrals Explorer (and it is planned to use it again this year), but I think it would be very unlikely for them to use 5972 as it is owned by WCRC.

We were the first to use the new York turntable on 22 Dec with 5043 "Earl of Mount Edgcumbe". The A4 60009 used it an hour or so later the same day. I believe both SR & HR mags have articles about it this month.

    60009 move today cancelled??
I have just read a post on UK-RailGen that the leading bogie of 60009's suppost coach has derailed in York station....I can't find any further info to confirm this but I hope all is well for no.9 as I was planning a trip north this weekend!

Hopefully no damage done and can still get to Carnforth for next week's, if not this Saturday's CME.

    Re: LE Movements

Only the coach leading bogie being off is mentioned elsewhere, but this does seem to be a strange one. I would imagine that it's caused no small amount of disruption at York too.

    Re: LE Movements

Oh dear. Still, all is not lost. There are still a few chances No 9 could get to Carnforth by 10:00 Saturday.

Since it happened at low speed there's a good chance nothing's damaged. Not sure what re-inspection is needed (ultra-sonic test on wheels/axles?) nor how quickly it could be arranged.

If the coach cannot be inspected in time, or it can but needs repairs, I suppose they could borrow/hire another coach. That would need an FTR, too, of course. IIRC, 45305 is in York ATM, so perhaps 5305LA can help out?

If no coach is available, would No9 go to Carnforth anyway? It's quite a big trip to be away from base with no tools and no teapot! I wonder if WCRC are warming up one of their residents this evening, just in case?
