Nobody was accusing Neil directly because there was two photographers behaving one on the wall the other on a ladder.I'm sure Neil was one of those but he was in the vicinity and should have said something to those on the wrong side being a experienced photographer of many years you would have thought. The point here is that those in the footage were on the wrong side and stood long after the passing of No 9 admiring their shots not aware of what they were doing. We hope they read this and learn from their mistake and danger so they will stay on the right side the next time.

In my going away video at Scout Green you can see the arm pointing from the cab and to me it looked like he was pointing at the trespass rather than a friendly wave.

You say that Simon but we all know for a fact that if Neil or any other photographer had of said something to them then a torrent of abuse would've likely followed, especially if those on the right side were outnumbered. It's how huge arguements end up taking place, mainly because those on the wrong side of the wall are so narrow minded and ignorant in the first place.

Thanks for the comments about my shot, much appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Mark

.... or perhaps he just might have known and recognised one or two of those photographers .... indeed, been looking out for them? Bekijk bijlage Isaac.pdf

Well, the wind aside - which most others appear to have, far more sensibly, taken into account when selecting their own positions - with the profusion of far better spots elsewhere and, in the main, mostly well away from any roadway, you have only yourself to blame for the unfortunate consequences that arose! That bridge is already known to be a very dangerous spot upon which to stand and, therefore, I feel that it was unfair to criticise motorists for spoiling your shots!

Unless very much mistaken that is Mr. John Hunt - widely recognized for his photography and its most likely that he was waving to a fellow photographer and friend!

Always a pleasure, thanks for these comments - Nice to see your contributions, shame about the sun!

Its easily solved, take their picture and hand them to BTP.

Im sure a few "high profile" prosecutions would get it back under control.

Maybe the plebs would then get back behind the fence.

Thanks Lance, I get ticked off by some for using the same locations more than a couple of time and so I try a new one and I'm wrong again. Perhaps with you expert knowledge you could provide some advice on locations in the area, and shots of yours emphasising your points.

So because they knew the fireman John Hunt and he was looking out for them it was OK to stand on railway property and trespass then???? I don't think so and if John Hunt is following this have a word with the photographers and give them a do and don't talk about photographing on the national network. I'm never afraid to point out to those doing wrong maybe others should before it is to late and we lose what we all love..main line steam.

I doubt that would work - more likely to simply raise the profile of the problem and provide more ammunition.for those who want to see steam banned from the mainline.

    Ralph,
We are lucky to be in the presence of such expert knowledge so to expect Lance to demonstrate such knowledge with shots of his own is completely unreasonable. Anyway, with all the advice he may have to give out, he may not have time to go out with a camera. :)

Maybe now we have taught Ralph everything there is to know about diesels, perhaps it time for a short series of lectures on cameras and how to use them?

Lesson 1: Lens caps. The big black thing on the front is called a lens cap. Much enhanced results are achieved if you remove it before taking your snap. Experienced photographers always put it in the same pocket so they don't panic thinking they have dropped it after taking each shot.

Thirty years ago there was such mass trespass on the ECML - Newark I think - when 4472 was out on a 60th birthday run that the line was shut for a while. What were the consequences? Certainly none regarding the continued operation of steam on the main line. AFAIK we've had nothing on that scale since, not even with Tornado. Trespass can never be condoned of course but it's effect on the future of steam is frequently overstated on here IMHO.
