    Was at Carnforth today, and was sure I spotted steam rising across the back of the station.

    So I grabbed the camera and raced through the subway, but it turned out to be my mate's border collie cocking its lag up against the canopy stanchion.

    I'd love to own this loco I'd get it all ready for a main line test run then dump it in my shed for 2 years so nobody could see it. Bloody hell it will be ready when it's ready why can't everyone just be patient

    No worries, he was over on the all-concrete Furness line platform (unless of course it penetrates to the re-bar :eek: ) .

    Actually, if you do find yourself in Carnforth, rather than hunting the Snark, I'd recommend popping into the visitor centre on platform 2. Excellent (and free) exhibition of Carnforth station and shed memorabilia, Lancaster Canal restoration, and for the ladies, continuous screenings of the Brief Encounter. Top it off with a snack in the famous refreshment rooms, where the food was first rate and staff got the girls to pose behind the counter with a giant teapot, Victoria Wood style. We ended up spending a couple of hours there, a welcome relief from the horizontal sleet!

    Well yes wind powered in the flatulence sense, the wind/gas is collected from various sources, liquified then piped to the firebox to be used along with dried camel dung and other sustainable fuels, including old chip fat.
