If only the actual Pacers were "dormant" too.

Moving on... With regard the SBR, perchance it is not dead but sleepeth. Maybe in eighty years' time there will be a revival scheme and people will be off to South America looking for the near mythical deltic engined pacer...

I suspect it may be rather closer to home - I've heard David Smith has definitely acquired it as the builders were going to scrap it, having run out of supplies of brown trousers, and that a test run is likely within the next week ...........

I was just *hoping* they were there. Aren't they still bouncing around the North of England? :bounce:

Mind you, someone might be watching the leasing company's website, waiting for a tender document to appear.

By the way, I've not heard back from the Heritage Lottery Fund or National Rail about the re-engined Mega-Pacer idea, so I won't be needing HS2 or SBR as a test track. Sorry to bring this bad news to the promoters of these projects. I hope they can find alternative uses.

Bog off, you keep them. They would be ideal for the new SBR extension to the local chippy :D

This is all waffle. :rolleyes1: BUT nothing is impossible. I once saw the results of a conversion by a guy call Harry Radcliffe, TWO Jaguar 3.8 straight 6 engines, one driving the front wheels, one driving the rear.....................IN A MINI. It worked...a couple of times, he used to race it at Rufforth airfield .:car:

Can we have a poll as to which we think will see the light of day first - the SBR, or the Napier Pacer? The pacer idea seemed to have a few credible people behind it...

Nah, more likely be used on the Manchester-Wigan via Atherton service with the rest of the sheds they use.

Not sure if I can add a poll to this thread but I will have a look. If I can't Ralph or Glyn can probably do it with their SuperMod powers...:biggrin1: What choices would people like?

Does it read better if I say "The pacer idea seemed to have a few incredible people behind it..."? Or maybe "The pacer idea seemed to have few credible people behind it, but that is still more than the SBR..."
