Is 777 in gauge for the SSE routes? Seems unlikely GSM-R will have been fitted for work below Rugby.

Where was the North British Locomotive Company located?
Is this where the locomotive was built?
    Or was it somewhere else?

As I understand it I think she was buit by the North British Locomotive Company which I think was in Glasgow.

And with the Southern's invariable penchant for never calling anything an official name when a better nickname could be used, locos in that batch were invariably called "Scotchmen".

I read that at several sites, so I just wanted to make sure.
Still though did they have a few places in the UK?

To my knowledge the North British Locomotive Company had only one works.

I stand corrected - but they were all in Glasgow, at least :)

This website gives come information on North British Railway Company. Though for some reason it isn't playinjg ball tonight. Try Glasgow Virtual or Digital Museum as a search term.

I decided to bring this thread up because I think the 5305 Locomotive Society had said something about getting her to NBLC earlier in this thread?

    How about Scotland in General?
Can she negotiate the Edinburgh to Inverness Line?

I hope these are not crazy questions?
I think that the Great Britian Tour would be a good way of accomplishing this. But How?

Maybe not crazy, but certainly fanciful. 777 is a bit limited by gauge. Although not tall, she has quite a long overhang at the front and has broadly similar route-availability problems to GW Halls, which are wide across the cylinders. Still, if a Castle can get to Edinburgh and Stirling, why not an Arthur? As you suggest, what's really needed is a suitable tour programme.

There have been various proposals to work Tangmere up to Inverness, to recall 34004's performances during the 1948 loco exchanges, but so far none have come off.

Just read that 777 has failed at the GCR... Can anyone confirm this?

I was at GCR yesterday and she failed- never even coming off shed. BR Class 37 No. 37 198 and Ivatt 46521 replaced her on her runs.

    Re: Scotsman Overhaul updates

Lets hope 777 can be repaired for this coming weekend steam gala at the MHR.

From what I heard it was only a leaking washout plug so shouldn't stop it from arriving at MHR...
