How lucky, 70000 is passing through Keighley on the first day of the K&WVR steam gala. :happy:

 

Shame in couldn't be seconded to do a turn up to Oxenhope instead of standing all night at Hellifield, a bit of latteral thinking and co-operation?

 

Going off on a tangent a bit, but would it be facing north and thus would they run it on the KWVR that way. I am not onvinced I have ever seen a loco there not facing uphill out of Keighley (to be fair only been a couple of times).

 

There's only so much one can do in a day: the support crew will have been up since the small hours. Positioning moves are notorious for running late or even early, and an incoming move from NR could punch a big hole in an intensive gala timetable. Added to all that, the loco would probably need to be re-inspected before being allowed back onto NR - more time and expense. How much would it actually add to the gala, and for what cost? I think the best you can hope for, practically speaking, is a short stop in Keighley station and a few tunes on the chime whistle.

47773 passed the WCML webcam at Euxton on time. 10 coaches in tow.

 

47773 was at Carnforth when 60009 departed, class 86 is back at Preston
