Hi Dave under the oak trees where the broken tree trunk is or was until someone moved it. There are three or four piles of concrete covers that are spaced from there to yew tree curve.

Thanks Ashley. The road is called The Shrave, near Medstead station. I can't describe easily how to get there, but I have attached two screenshots from Google Maps which show where the path is that leads to the bridge. It is a very narrow path, and it took 5 minutes to find it today as I hadn't been there in 9 months.

    Hope this helps...

No worries, maybe we'll meet again then, like we did last year at Bighton!

Had an enjoyable afternoon spent riding and taking a few photos at the gala with my brother today. Staff were all very friendly as usual and enjoyed my first visit to the Ropley workshop viewing gallery. Excellent idea that. The current development at Ropley really is fantastic.

Does anybody know any suitable shots looking across the railway from the country lanes on the opposite side of the A31? Thinking of trying something different if the weather is still as gloomy tomorrow.

Try Horse Lane. It is quite a distance from the line, so a good lens is required, but it offers decent views across the fields. Here is my video from last year's spring gala, and I visited it on a couple of occasions. To see the view from this location, skip to 1:03 and around 10:45.

Theres a footpath off the slip road which runs parallel to the A31 about a mile north of Station Road Medstead. You have to look very carefully to find the path. I often go to that spot and rarely see anybody else there. Heres the T9 and 925 on Friday

Yes an excellent day and well done to all at MHR. Very slick operating all day and quick thinking to run the 1520 with 5164 when 34007+777 were late going down. They came back on the 1555 which I shot near Northbridge Lane. Completely floored by the SUN coming out so not the best of shots though. Highlight for me was 30120 on the 1315 Alton with a storming climb of Medstead bank sustaining 23 mph until we slipped in the tricky bit after Hants Hunt Bridge, where many an engine has the same problem. Bittern came to grief there some years ago. Lineside tree clearance needed? We saw 5164 crawling into Medstead and didnt think it would make it. Hard work by all the friendly MHR staff rewarded and a special mention to that unsung hero, the shunter at Alresford who made all the quick engine changes work well. Pity it wasnt better supported as there werent the crowds of previous years.

    Don

I had enjoyable day yesterday, better for travelling than taking photos although there was some sun late afternoon. I Had solo runs behind both the T9 and the Cheltenham from Alton. The highlight was the later which was a spirited run .A small selection of photos can be found at Zenfolio | Paul Simpson | Midhants Railway Spring Gala 2013

The 11.30 ex Alton behind 777 was standing room only from Medstead and Fourmarks in my carriage . It was difficult to get out at Ropley. There were a lot of cars in the Carpark at Ropley when I arrived at about 9.30.I seem busy in the morning but quiet from mid afternoon onwards.

Great pictures and videos folks. It's good to hear the T9 was in fine form yesterday.

Here are some more of my videos from Friday including the 12 minute slog up the bank to Medstead from the P way slack (part 2 has the main climb of the bank):

Does anyone know when the T9 is leaving the MHR? I could only attend the Gala on Friday due to other commitments and was hoping there might be a slim chance she is in use next weekend before heading to the Battlefield line.

Another great day at the MHR. After another cold day and with no sun coming out I was about to make my way home and noticed the sun was coming out. A few of us made a visit to Wanders curve to photograph the up train with 30777 on the front. Turned out to be the best shot of the day.
