Flicking through the new railway magazine today, a question came across my mind. How much are the photographers paid (if they ask for it) per image on average? Does it depend on size (e.g the full double spread of the black 5's and then one of the quarter page ones in the sunset)?

    Thank you in advanced!

It depends really. I've had two pictures published over the last 7-8 years and got nothing for the first and £30 for the second (which was a 2/3rds spread over 2 pages). I never expected to get paid for my second shot so it was a pleasant surprise.

They seem to work in mysterious ways. I had two photos published at different times in the letters pages of one magazine.
I got nothing for one and £15 for the other.
