You are all missing the obvious. WCRC have an invisibility cloak left over from the Harry Potter films so Galatea will be out and about but nobody will see her.

I wouldn't put it past Smithy to schedule a run for 01.04.13 to see how many people get caught out!

Brian - beware! You are being sucked in to the Galatea wibble void where everything is possible but noone knows anything. It is a land of wild guesses, where everyone starts using far too many smileys and punctuation marks!!! Welcome to the far side, my friend.

From Heritage Railway FB - do they know something??? I've pasted the whole posting to keep the context of the Galatea reference, not to bring any discussion re. FS to this thread!

    HAPPIER TIMES FOR FLYING SCOTSMAN

Passing Buxworth on the Hope Valley line in 1979. BRIAN SHARPE

The basic question is - if we can built a Pacific for £3 million, if we can restore a Barry scrapyard locomotive for a fraction of that price, often by building new parts, if we can turn donor locomotives like Galatea into main line performers, why can't we rebuild Flying Scotsman?
It is not an original locomotive, but an entity comprised of replacement parts, some from other A3s. Why cannot any part of it be replaced so it can run again?
The NRM report seems to imply that if there is found to be a problem with the frame sides, restoration to running order might not happen. Why cannot this component be replaced too?
If they decided to stuff and mount it, how many people would contribute to a fund to build a new A3?
Keep your thoughts coming in please!

Very little I'd say - apart from a desire to plumb even greater depths than SR when it comes to beating up the NRM.

Anyone know what "Frame Sides" are? First I've heard of them in over fifty years as a steam follower. Does the man mean "Frames" perhaps?

The correct term would be frame 'plates'. Ray.

They'd have to sink very low to be worse than the Wilcock hatchet job!

That's true, but I did say 'desire' based on their endless rants on Facebook. Time will tell, but I shan't be subscribing any time soon, that's for sure.

I stopped buying the rag a while back now,
it does not cater for my needs, I find the Sun more honest and factual and the pictures are better,

Maybe she will do her test runs unpainted ,then appear fully painted for her main line debut.
