    Hey Railway Folks
I read a bit in last years march edition of the Railway Magazine which said about the following two engines
    and it said that
One engine was destined for Barrow Hill Roundhouse which is 30075,
And the other being destined for the Dartmoor Railway
i don't know personnally if these plans are still whats been agreed
    many thanks
    Yrm

It would be rather nice if they could be both borrowed to work together on a special down to Fawley - remember this was quite a popular branch for such activities in 1966/67?

30075 certainly had its problems when on the Mid Hants, but when on song it had a surprising amount of oomph!

I've never managed to see one running in England, but I've seen them doing heavy shunting in Yugoslavia and pulling a passenger train on the Sacramento Southern Railroad - and they appeared pretty capable.

Would I be right in thinking it's not so much power that's their issue as being a bit "lively" at speed ?.

Lively is one way of putting it. It's possible to get seasick just from watching one from the coach behind!

Didn't the SR/BR ones have a propensity to melt bearings?

Yes the reason why the two at the K&ESR were saved as their tow to the scrapyard got delayed when both locos both suffered hot boxes....
