And now I've looked at the weather forecast for Friday... wow between WSR yesterday and tomorrow, plus SVR Friday (working night shifts most of the week, leaving days handily free for galas), I'll be very wet this week.

Sadly Friday looks like the worst weather day around the Midlands, with Sunday perhaps the "best"...if you can call arctic temps "best" !!

Unless it is turned, it looks as though "Wadebridge" will be tackling Highley bank tender-first....interesting.

34007 will be facing North not South.

Is this a recent change as it currently shows facing South on the SVR website?

    Oops,
It was originally planned to face north.

From another place, 34007 is to miss its booked turns Friday am, and will be replaced by 2857.

Interesting, but I'd suggest the T9 last year, 9017 or Truro were more of a challenge heading north out of Highley, anything four coupled or big wheeled can make heavy weather of it.

I was thinking about the rail conditions that might result from the forecast poor weather.

No doubt there will be plenty of filling of sandboxes at the moment.

    34007 apparently ok now.

I just hope this gala does not turn out to be a financial disaster.

The weather does look shocking, I an seriously wondering if it sensible to travel down from York tomorrow and get stranded :( Unless the forecast is very wrong, I can see many people deciding not to leave their front doors :(

Well, I'm now safely in Kidderminster ready for my first ever SVR steam gala (did the diesel galas in 1989, '92, and '94, then a couple of normal service days in the past year) whatever the weather brings. Survived some good soakings at the WSR earlier in the week so let's see what happens. Very much looking forward to seeing the USA tank somewhere different.

Would being stranded at a steam gala be that bad??

It's been snowing for the last hour or so here in Kiddy, but has yet to stick thankfully. From experience, Kiddy will be getting barely anything compared to elsewhere. Good luck coming from York. Are you driving or traveling by train? Either way, it will probably an 'interesting' journey.

I was going to come down for a day on the standard, but! We've had about 8inches of snow in Llangollen, and it's still coming down.

I hope the gala goes well, and isn't a financial disaster for the SVR, but if the snows as bad everywhere else as it is here, I can't see a lot of people leaving home.

Well, the snow in Kiddy is practically nonexistent, but I dare say it's a different matter elsewhere. Shame really.

Same here in Droitwich Spa - just a sprinkling on cars, and everywhere else just wet and grey

No snow in Worcester this morning and now stopped raining. Fingers crossed for a good gala whatever the weather!

I have got back from the gala today i enjoyed it the weather could have been warmer but travelled behind all the locos i wanted to had a good time.
The numbers are going to be down as seen by getting parked easily at kidderminster and number of empty seat.
There is nothing that could have been done a good event with a good line up of locos but you can not control the weather.
