Bye 'ell Neil, that looks handsome, a mighty machine out and about. I think the last one we had one doing a job round our way was 55022 RSG, it nearly shook Batley station to bits going up the hill to Morley tunnel. I hope the DPS get a trouble free day out of it.

Saw it come along the Tyne Valley line tonight with the sun setting in the back ground. Stunning photos! What a fantastic machine, wish could see it running on the mainline more!
Window seems to have been fixed, on the front at some point!

Somewhere between Newton Aycliffe and Durham by the looks of the youtube videos
The train was reversed in Edinburgh (generator van at the front) so the damage didnt show on on the way home

    (edited to add reversal)

It is reported that the loco. ran well and to time all day, between Darlington and York on the return it cleared it's tubes out and ran at 100mph for many miles.. They might need a fair bit of looking after but when they are out and about on the main line, running well on two engines, there is no finer sight and sound for a rail enthusiast. There are a few videos of the day on the DPS web site, watch and listen to it flatten Miles Plating bank.

D 55009 was due to be running at the GCR Gala last weekend, but I was told that it failed at Quorn on the 29th and was withdrawn from the timetable.

That's not good news but after 3 years being repaired it' understandable that something would crop up. The DPS will get it sorted and Alycidon WILL be be back to it's former glory.:)
