MHR Diesel Gala April 26th-28th 2013

Most people will walk from the end from platform 2 along the path until you get to the field which goes along side the railway line which will bring you out at Northside lane. You can then cross the road and walk up to the crossing. Shouldn't take no more than half hour. You could drive there but parking is limited.

Looking on WNXX today. A link to another forum seems to have a copy of the working time table and loco roster for the diesel gala.

At this point it is not the full working timetable, but a public timetable with the loco allocations. The full working timetable complete with all the light engine and empty stock moves will be available very shortly.

 

Does anyone know when the visiting loco's are moving down to the MHR? It would be nice to see this convoy on the ML.

There are no timings in TRUST for this Wednesday so unless it's going to be input late, I would presume 24th.

 

To stop the rumour mill before it gets rolling.....the move is timed for Wednesday 24th April. Arrival in Alton late afternoon.

There are actually two separate mainline moves with the second expected on Thursday 25th April around the middle of the day.

The Yard at Medstead and Four Marks and Bennets siding will be MHR railway staff only.
We ask all visitors not to attempt to enter the yard unless they have MHR Staff ID, MHR Membership cards & a MHR PTS. This is for safety reasons.
The Yard is dangerous as we have a mixture of loose rails and concrete troughs laying about, there is also possible machinery movements happening.

Please don't argue with the staff on duty at the gate as we are all volunteers.

Please can I ask anyone visiting the MHR diesel gala this weekend not to drop litter off the road bridge at Ropley station. One of my fellow volunteers has spent a considerable amount of time removing rubbish from around Bighton Hill bridge.

hi iwas wondering if the convoy ahs now arrived on the mid hants railway and if anyone know about the o8 shunter working at the gala also is the kings cross bridge now open to public at ropley

 

Heard the distinct sound of the Napier Deltic engines as the convoy travelled past my workplace just after 5.00pm. Unfortunately I can't see the railway from my office window but luckily 55009 had to slow for the tight curve between Aldershot and Farnham (where the Tongham branch used to go) and I heard her being opened up after the curve.
I am visiting Sunday and looking forward to runs behind 55009 and the 37's.
