The "Harry Potter" bridge is open to the public now giving a nice vantage point.

The convoy has arrived from the ELR safely (phew).

The VEP hauled by a 66 courtesy of GBRF (big thanks to them) arrives tomorrow (Thurs) around 4.30pm

The O8 will be working at Alton.

37905 is due to arrive by road during tomorrow, leaving Burton around 10am or so and arriving when it gets here.

D6836 was driving up West Street at 18:15 this evening. By the time I finished work and wandered up the station (20:00) it had been unladed and disappeared. Looks lovely in very shiny green.

    Hi Everyone,

    Last update on the gala.

    66738 and VEP arrived ok.

33109 talks to the VEP in push pull mode..... MOV00659 - YouTube

37905 should be on MHR property now.

To quote the text I've been sent:

901 out vice 905s first trip.
Fuel & ftr 905 then probably 905 out in 901s cycle.

That's a bit of a bonus for me regarding D6836. Didn't know she had been repainted in BR green. Has she also had an overhaul?

A Deltic has just purred past the bottom of my garden....class 20 left earlier this morning, so all to timetable so far (09:20 Friday) Just off to work so won't see anything much today, although weather is brightening after a damp start.

Here on the second day. Heavy loading on the first train out of Alton, not surprising considering. Now people have spread out a bit it's comfortably busy I'd say, seats for those that want them, windows for those that don't. But it's rather chilly!!!

4-VEP looks fantastic, which was what drew me down.

Another great day. I see tonight there were four or five people working on 33109 for tomorrow. Lets hope they get 109 back in action for tomorrow. I would just like to put my thanks out to Richard, Simon and Andy for putting this gala on.

    Thanks

You're welcome. Thanks to everyone who's come along and made it fun so far. Great atmosphere I think.

D9009 has a Vacuum problem, so tomorrow there will be a change with the Deltic hauling the 4VEP in 33109's diagram. The 47 will replace the Deltic and we'll get the 33 out on a passenger train as soon as it is ready, possibly in the 47 diagram.

This was a brilliant gala. Great loco selection! Really cheerful staff/volunteers. I want to highlight the careful thought which had gone into timetable and loco roster. Much to my relief, the team eschewed the irritating MHR steam gala tradition of not allowing complete round trips behind the loco of one's choice.
I was there all day Saturday, such a shame that it was so very cold, especially in the morning. I nipped into Alton to purchase appropriate headwear and gloves, which improved matters greatly!
Well done, thanks, and here's to the next one!

A few of my humble efforts taken on Friday and Saturday. Thanks to those who pointed me in the right direction to Northside Lane footcrossing enabling me to be able to get some of these.

I'll add to the thanks and congratulatulations to the management, organisers and staff on here who made this a cracking gala. I've also contacted the line directly to pass on thanks. Your hard work was really appreciated.
