A dull afternoon in Yorkshire meant no worthwhile shot of 60019 but it did brighten up a little for 4464

Realtime data confirms the problem mentioned. The train was back to right time at Retford. <BJ>

    Nice one, Stuart :)

That's an interesting lighting effect on her flank though - a patch of almost an apple green shade!

You can say that again, the first one just looks as though it's been lit by floodlights. The second also great lighting.
Not forgetting yours Stuart, your usual excellent standard.

Some real award winning photos in this thread. Thanks again to all for posting. Did anyone catch this going over the Tyne yesterday? (Further to earlier posts, I see this was 63 minutes late departing from Newcastle station)

    Hi All,

Some truly brilliant pics. Particularly impressed with how your shots have come out Nigel, that Crianlarich one is fantastic, talk about lighting!

I've just about finished uploading my selection of both the main train and an interesting day on the Far North Line on 26/04,this saw 66101 (DB Livery) on the Lairg tanks,47804 on the Royal Scotsman and 37218/605 on a test train, more than made up for the below par weather on the Kyle line (main part anyway).

I now have 55 shots up at:

I must add my thanks to all those who got out all over the country, and to some pretty remote locations, to bring us such a fabulous selection of stills and videos. There is no doubt that amongst the NP members there are many excellent cameramen from both groups.

A friend from Aberdeen has just sent me a couple of his shots..

I wasn't too sure about these two photographs back when I had taken them, and they were consigned to the scrap heap with a few others. But on second thought, maybe they aren't so bad? As train shots, they're naff, but as atmospheric highland shots they may well pass?

Also, for anybody who is interested, the blog has been updated to cover our viewpoint of the chases involved for ourselves. It had to be split in to three parts, as you don't realise until you write it up, how much can be packed in to just one trip out for one photograph!

It's a long time after the event I know (6 months or more) but I've finally got around to editing the 10 hours or so of footage that my pal and I shot over the 9 days. I've produced 2 discs, details of which will be going on my web site in the next few days. As usual, I'll put a few samples onto YouTube. I uploaded clips from the first 5 days last night, and will probably load the rest at the weekend.

Day 1: Tangmere at Clapham Junction; 45407 & 44871 at Menheniot

Day 2: 44871 & 45407 at Goss Moor, nr Roche; 34067 leaving Bristol

    Day 3: 44871 & 45407 restarting from Craven Arms

    Day 4: 44871 & 45407 at Shap Wells

Day 5: 45407 at Lunan Bay near Montrose; 60009 crossing the Forth Bridge.

The Forth Bridge shot is the only one that doesn't feature on the disc. We have an even better one taken from the east side, with the bridge and train silhouetted against the sinking sun.

Here are the remaining days, which feature on Part 2:

Day 6: 44871 approaching Slochd summit when the brakes go on. She restarts with just one brief slip - not bad on a 1-in-70 gradient

Day 7: 45407 climbing from Loch Gowan to Luib simmit on the line to Kyle Of Lochalsh

Day 8: 45407 & 44871 on the Highland mainline, raising the echoes past Tomatin and passing the cottages at Balsporran, a mile or so short of Drumochter summit

Day 9: 60009 hurries past Darlington station on the avoiding line; 4464 takes the Selby diversion at Colton Junction and, remarkably, catches a glimmer of sun.

Full details of the discs' contents are now on the web-site; link in my signature.
