    While getting all caught up with the Great Britain Tour and VT's Cornishman I completely skipped over 3751's annual jaunt to San Bernadino, California. The 4-8-4 can be considered the largest steam locomotives running in the US today. UP Challenger 3985 has been in the shops undergoing repairs for a few years now, that's why

    I think that steam/Smoke factor has to do with the oil they are using to run her off of. The California desert is dry most of the time. I have heard that some of our locomotives over here burn vegtable oil. I might be mistaken.
