If anyone is out photting this, I'd really like a photo as my wife and father-in-law are on board and I'm stuck at work.

Will be taking a shot between Deal and Dover. Do you know what coach and which side?

My five pics of Tangmere hauling The Canterbury Belle towards Clapham Junction just after 10am today. Open the link below and then click the right "Older" arrow to see the other four photos. Keep going and you'll see Clan Line today (will post in the relevant thread) but don't click right too far or you'll end up with your feet wet... ;)

Somehow, I don't think they'll be hanging out of the windows. I've already had a text from the wife saying she's 20 years younger than everyone else on the train and the only one who isn't wearing an anorak!

Just looking for a nice piccy of the train to give to her dad, as a reminder of his birthday outing.

What's wrong with the 'Night Ferry' headboard? I believe its been a few years since that last featured on a mainline tour... At least someone with 34067 is making an effort.

It was only out a couple of weeks ago to Rowsley.

An authentic headboard (such as featured here), even if not on it's original route is still preferential to some of the tacky headboards made for specific tours that a certain pacific further north sometimes wears.

Yes, but this time its used in vaguely the right area. I think it suits 34067 quite well. Just waiting for the 'Cunarder' headboard to make a comeback on the mainline (with permission, of course!).

Wrong stock, wrong time of day, and apart from Tonbridge-Dover, wrong route. I guess it's less daft than using it on a train from King's Cross to Rowsley, and also less daft than putting the "Golden Arrow"regalia on the front without a pullman car in sight, but 34067 would look much better without it. (See pictures on the "Welsh Borderer" thread.)

to be honest, Tangmere is a pretty ugly beast, and a splash of makeup helps to break up the black hole up front.

You don't mess with the Nutfield Cats. Mice, naw not enough meat on them, rabbits much better.
Nice shot of Tangmere as well by the way..

Taking this to its logical conclusion, 'The Night Ferry' should not feature on any railtour unless:

    1. The adapted Wagons-Lits stock makes a comeback (probably won't happen).
    2. It happens in pitch-darkness so that no-one will see it anyway (might happen if its late-running).
    3. We reinstate the ro-ro train ferry the service was famous for (definitely won't happen).
    4. The trip has to use the exact route (would very rarely happen, judging by the general track record of railtouring).

I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree, there! Heck, I've lost my sense of humour today...

Is that a Dylan Thomas-ism in the way he described Swansea as an 'ugly, lovely town'? To my eye, an unrebuilt is far more efficient-looking than some other classes I could mention; namely those built by the Southern's direct competition...

My effort from Redhill's suburbs. As far as I could tell, the 33 at the rear was doing nothing, which was consistent with the obvious effort from 'Tangmere' and the speed of the train as it rounded the curve from the main line.
