Not long now until the start of the season... I need to get some tickets booked!
Any takers for 46233 on the first trip? She's in steam the day before for Scarboro' Flyer, whats the liklihood of her turning up on the first day?
    Regards
    Steve

I would very much doubt it . Last year it came off the Scarborough train at Derby and returned direct to Butterley with the railtour being diesel hauled Derby to Tyseley.

From the Vintage Trains website : - " No. 46233 “Duchess of Sutherland” will take us all the way from Tyseley to Scarborough in the morning. In the afternoon, 46233 will take us back as far as Derby. From Derby to Tyseley the train will be diesel hauled".

That's exactly what the description of this tour on VT's web-site says: "In the afternoon, 46233 will take us back as far as Derby. From Derby to Tyseley the train will be diesel hauled."

It is up to Tyseley and the PRLCT to decide how to proceed. With Lizzie not in action why not. Ben or Bob

Here we are at this time of year asking the same question as last year :)

Maybe wishful Thinking. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Unless it's required in Bristol, I'd put a fiver on 5029 making an appearance, maybe 4936 too if shes not on hire somewhere, though 4965 usually does the lions share.

5029 will be down for the Royal Duchy, TE and Weymouth's if she is finished in time

It would be nice to see 4936 on one and i suspect we'll get 5043 but the bulk will be 4965

Why hire in another Hall when you've got your own and a friend's on shed? Especially one that charges a premium for the celebrity paint-job? It's one thing to give visitors a run to Stratford when they'd otherwise be sat idle, quite another to spend hard cash unnecessarily.

I'd guess 5043 will take a turn on the Shakespeare the day after a VT tour, perhaps Sun 18th Aug after the trip to Llandudno. Provided there were no problems on Saturday, it makes sense to keep the Castle in steam overnight and save a heating-cycle on RAH's boiler.

Here we go for another season of the best value mainline steam in the country. I don't think I'm giving away any secrets when I say that the Hall with the small tender behind (ooer missus) will be doing the honours on Sunday.;)
I really enjoy doing these trips, a nice lie in 'till 6am at work at 7am a couple of runs through the North Warwickshire countryside and in my local enjoying a pint by 7pm.

The classic Danzey location has seen a bush grown up , which unless it has been removed is plum in the photographic spot . It is also well within Network Rail boundaries just in case anyone thought of bringing a chainsaw . Similarly the climb to Wood End is also well bushed in now

SWMBO might have an affect on my wanderings tomorrow. With the weather forecast looking good and a hedge to be taking out. Doesnt look promising. I may sneak out for either of the return trips around Earlswood.

I am a bit confused !!! I have been told by Vintage that tomorrow's engineering works have been cancelled and that the train will return via Dorridge, although Realtime Trains still shows via Henley-in-Arden.

Odd, might be an idea to watch what 1T51 does then and go out for 1T53 when the sun isn't so head on, I presume the way RTT works, if it fails to report after Bearley Junction, it's gone off route (ie via Dorridge).
