Hardly an August 1968 rerun with two locos from a class that had been withdrawn and thus not involved in 1T57.

Did the jubilees ever run in BR maroon? Just asking...I think she looks very smart - never going to see her down In Cornwall sadly - will have to do some special trips!

I never thought I'd see her in deepest, darkest East Anglia. We survive on a diet of 1 or 2 trips a year by Cromwell or Tangmere.

Turns out she'll be through tomorrow! So you never know!

Similar diet here too, although more recently we've had Tornado in plymouth and Ian Riley's pair of black 5's just round the corner from my house, so its not all bad! I do hope they hurry with the fettling on braunton would be nice to see a rebuilt westcountry here... 45699 would look fantastic going over our lovely viaducts and scenery here!

In answer to the "livery" question, I dont think any Jubilees ran in BR service in BR maroon livery, that was restricted to the LMS Pacifics.

But, in the great order of things, it is another Barry wreck restored, and if it runs in BR maroon, so be it.

( Still not convinced the valve events sound quite 100% "Jubilee" just yet, but no doubt Carnforth will keep refining things till they think they have it spot on)

Yes, Galatea looks good, and that red stands out in dull weather better than BR/GW camoflage green. Except it's not quite BR maroon, is it? More like "Harry Potter Crimson"... ;)

Colour looks ok to me, but "maroon" is one of those colours that looks different in different natural light, and then how well it reproduces digitally.

I have two (traditionally produced) photgraphs in front of me of 46229 in BR maroon at Hereford in the 1990's, one taken in dull conditions and the paint looks very similar to what is on 45699. The second image was taken a few days later at the same location but in bright sunshine, and 46229 looks "red" . You would not think it was the same paint. Bulmer's Railway Centre were not into quick repaints!

Galatea's got a bit of syncopation in her beat a bit like 46115, they should both have an even triple two beat.

    Cheers Dave

Any idea where the loco is going after this trip ? (Appears not to have been a secret for those watching Tangmere today)

true enough, but doesnt stop someone running it.
There hasnt yet been an accurate re-run, (45596+46229), then (48151, 70013+ 2 fives, returning via Wigan to Liverpool) and the two trips this year (5699+5690) and the one running via Longsight aren't going to be either.

Could anyone suggest any spots around Hellifield to film the return of 45699 on Monday evening? Preferably to the south side before she arrives at the station and the North for the Departure. Thanks in advanced.
