I have looked back to the beginning of the year, and cannot find the 6100 Royal Scot thread.
so, does anyone know what's going on as it all seems vey quite, it is nearly 4 years ago that it was first advertised for main line tours

Isn't it sidelined at LNWR Crewe, requiring remedial work?

The tender was seen a couple of weeks ago still outside at CHC. No sight of the loco though.

An arrangement with LNWR to carry out the repairs understood to have been sorted but will be protracted as funding permits. Not sure if its because of the previous lottery money spent meaning the transfer to rs&g trust is not simple.

Been a sorry tale with this unfortunate engine.Starting with the low loader fire on its way to Bishops Lydeard, then things have not improved much since.

I'd hate to try negotiating that deal, who's the owner, who can actually sell it, who receives the money... And what's it actually worth..
How do you value it.. Pre-restoration, as working, or asis in its current state..., is 6100 potentially a brand like Scotsman, Mallard etc ?
Then add on 4 years of storage fees, assessments etc.
Who pays to get it working, and what extra work it needs.
Are you entitled to refund from previous work done etc etc.

You thought Scotsman was a mess.. It's probably remarkably uncomplicated compared to 6100.

I would have thought the low loader fire was inconsequential compared with the other problems.

I was just pointing out the fire was just the start of the bad luck that has plagued the loco.

I think the bad luck started a lot further back than that - the move to Southall didn't do it any favours.

If I recall correctly this loco recieved a HLF grant? If so it may be subject to a restrictive charge by the HLF I would have thought.

That is normal for the HLF but it has usually got a time limit of upto ten years.
    When did the overhaul start?

That is probably where they are learning their lessons then.
Ten years was certainly the norm before.

Despite the delays HLF will probably still be on board if they have been kept informed and a credible plan is in place. Generally they will have no desire to reclaim their money so long as their long-term objectives are met, and the money spent on the purposes agreed at the time of the grant.

Ownership, or legal title is the one thing you've absolutely got to nail, as the original Galatea consortium learned to their cost.

Is there any doubt over ownership?

    Dunno..
Maybe resolved, but I'd imagine there's several people wanting either money or a stake, didnt RBS have an ownership stake plate attached to it at one point ?

Doesn't 6100 come under the control/ownership of royal scot general trust headed up by Jeremy Hosking?
