    Evening All

Cannot find a thread dealing specifically with 60010 Dominion of Canada

I have been given some photos by Micheal Hutton showing the progress on 60010’s conversion to 4489.

First couple of photos show the woefull condition of the draw gear area it suffered in Canada 17/10/12

Separated from tender, rods removed, but no work carried out yet 9/11/12

Mmm, that's all subjective, isn't it? Personally I think that the A4s are indeed elegant, but the streamlined Duchess is good looking in her own way, and very '1930s' too. And she's a stunning piece of restoration engineering, which all involved should be very proud of :)

    Is it a Bird? Is it a Man? It's a Country! 8 June 2013

The news that Mallard and Dwight D Eisenhower had been joined by Dominion of Canada on the turntable at the NRM York required an early visit. Considering its unkempt state on arrival at Shildon last year, Dominion now has a fine exhibition finish, eclipsing Dwight on which the history of shotblasting remain apparent. As always in the NRM, photographic conditions were challenging as No 60008 was in full sun and the rest in the usual gloom.

We shall have TWO of each for the Great Gathering next month, when Bittern, Sir Nigel Gresley and Union of South Africa join the lineup. Can't wait!
