The SVR have announced the first visitor for this event. No. 70000 "Britannia", the first BR standard will make its first return to the valley since 1979, courtesy of the Royal Scot Loco & General Trust.

Unless someone was being wildly optimistic with suggestions of it steaming before 2012 is out, I'd be surprised if Taw Valley isn't up and running by then.

Britannia's a good start to the line up, I hope they manage to find something obscure again as it's the like of the Caley, T9, Dukedog, Coal Tank etc that do it for me, how about L&Y 1300 for example ?.

Railmotor? Fell in love with it in Cornwall this weekend.............. Though I don't know how it would handle the SVR ASG crowds - perhaps not! ;)

The trailer will probably be in traffic by September next year and the SVR would probably charge a supplement to travel on it (just as they are doing for the auto-train at the Spring Gala), so it could probably cope.

One loco I would love to see on the SVR is 61306 'Mayflower', would look lovely on the teaks.

Has a B1 ever run on the SVR ?, I cant recall 61264 visiting and unless Mayflower did in the 70's or 80's...

That would be nice. Two engines I'd like to see on the SVR (again): A Hall and a Black 5. I enjoyed 45407 and 44871 visiting last year and I haven't seen a Hall visit for some time.

One of my favourite runs from years ago (2002/03) was with 45110 in the dark back from Kidderminster.

The new SR reports that 850 'Lord Nelson' and Met No.1 are visiting with another one is TBC.

That's excellent news. Got some good runs behind 850 when it visited the ELR in January 2012.

Rumour elsewhere of that being the case but we'll have to wait to find out. That would be 3 southern locos compared to only one LMS designed loco, 43106. And this is the Midlands...

A good run with 850, did it actually make some noise then?!

Yes all runs with 850 in 2007 and 2012 at ELR were quiet, presume that is the norm with Lord Nelson?

She can be noisy when she wants to. Will never match a Castle/Black 5/V2 though.

It wasn't much about how much noise she made, it was just nice to get some mileage behind her as Southern loco's don't tend to visit heritage railways in the North of England too much.

    But I will seconded Spamcan81 quote that it won't match a Castle/Black 5 or a V2.
