4464 Bittern to do 90mph on ECML - 29 June & 27 July 2013

We've gained a light aircraft alongside, building the fire up a little..

 

78 through the tunnel south of Grantham.

 

We've lost the light aircraft.

 

1035 through Grantham , 4 early.

 

We're hovering around the 77-79 range through tunnel north grantham

 

We're going for it...

 

86mph... Going for it...

 

Sustained 92 for 30 seconds breifly 93 (but not enough to count)...,wow were motoring round clay pole... Good time to be at Newark

Thru Newark at.....

 

Wow not below 92 now for over a minute !!!!

 

Wow !!!! Just slowing back to mid 70's again... That was faster than earlier

 

Just how jealous do you want us to be!

 

Here's the verdict on that short sprint, I've several of the 92-93 stretch to confirm it was sustained over 90...

 

I wonder how many photos will be in the next issues of the Railway mags seeing as the loco is carrying a headboard with one of their competitors on it.

I do hope there will be some videos from Newark now. A great day for preserved steam in the UK.

Panic... The fire engine is at the wrong end of the train !!! All the hoses are laid trackside from the entrance parking... Right by the last coach ! The fire engines sprinted up the road... And it's a scramble for hoses !
