On a run of free weekends, usual question! Any idea what's likely to be out & about Sat & Sunday? Much appreciated!

 

Probably Manston; it re-enters traffic today and should be in (usual caveats apply) as far as the weekend. Over Saturday and Sunday 80104 is also likely to be out, on the Driver Experience freight on Saturday and on the Sunday Lunch train.

 

Likely from my understanding of conversations yesterday to be either 34070 or 30053; I'd be tempted to put my money on 34070, but its not my decision to make. Either way, its highly unlikely to be '95!

 

And to completely change what I said before, it is actually 80104 today! If you're around this afternoon feel free to say hello; I'm on the footplate this afternoon.

 

Thanks to the steam ban, some australian only steam fix for the whole trip was for about ten miles behind 80104! (I was Ticket Inspector)

Shame being it was the End of Southern Steam Anniversary it became a diesel train, but 80104 was an good choice at least wasn't it?

 

Sorry to ask the question again, (but I do buy an all day rover & spend dosh on the railway each visit!) - be really grateful for info on motive power Sat & Sun! Thanks...

 

80104 will be on the service trains, and 30053 will be out and about on Sunday on the lunch train.

Yes, the class 108 DMU; the bubble car at the moment has a final drive problem, and the class 33 is being worked on by its owners this weekend.
