Railway Herald has been told that RTC's 'Coast to Coast' on 13th July will now be hauled by 'Royal Scot' No. 46115 Scots Guardsman from Liverpool Lime Street to Milford, running via Manchester Victoria and the Calder Valley. Because of the line side conditions network rail's North East sector has requested that the section between York and Scarborough be diesel-hauled in view of the high fire risk. The diesel will also return the train to Milford, where Scots Guardsman will take over for the return to Liverpool.

The continued unavailability of No. 34046 Braunton has resulted in 'Britannia' No. 70013 Oliver Cromwell being drafted in to haul RTC';s 'Jolly Fisherman' from London Kings Cross to Skegness via Spalding and Sleaford, also on 13th July. After reversal at Sleaford, the Britannia will run tender first for the remaining miles to Skegness. The return operates via Sleaford to Grantham, and then ECML back to Kings Cross.

RTC's working to Canterbury on 11th July is reported as running as advertised.,

However due to prevailing weather conditions and a forecast of more dry and hot weather, the steam ban imposed by the Great Western sector of Network Rail covering the south-west is likely to remain in force, and as a consequence the decision has already been made to cancel Sundays Weymouth Seaside Express. The inference is that 'The Torbay Express' on the same day will be likewise affected, so look out for announcements concerning that train

I think it is quite correct.
The train is going Coast to Coast after all. Just changing engines on route.

Before Martin changed it, it ended with "to be hauled by Royal Scot" I don't know much about this tour, but pretty confident that 46100 won't be putting in an appearance!.

But reading the first line of the actual post the loco was correctly identified.
Perhaps you could give the lady from RH who posts on their behalf, a little leeway as she may not be a died in the wool steam enthusiast, and is doing her best.

Quite agree. When did 46115 stop being a 'Royal Scot' anyway?

Bit of a difference between "a Royal Scot class loco" and "Royal Scot", it's like if 60009 is allocated to a tour and trying to mislead people that Mallard's hauling it.

Most joe public would see Royal Scot as a brand name like Flying Scotsman and expect 6100 if they were sent literature worded like that, and then be somewhat miffed when 46115 turns up.

But the Class tends to be known as the "Royal Scots", whereas Mallard is an A4 Class and Flying Scotsman an A3 Class.

I suspect you would know what was meant if a headline said "hauled by King Arthur". However, I can appreciate that confusion can arise where the first loco and at least one other survive - which is not that usual.

Among enthusiasts we know them as Royal Scots, would non enthusiasts know that ?.

Not having a knock at anyone, but a bit of misinformation can lose passengers if not careful.

ticket and information letter received today (dated yesterday) and it states that the train will be steam hauled by 46115 from Liverpool to Scarborough and back as far as Manchester. There is no mention whatsoever of diesel involvement until Manchester on the return. Surely if it was planned to diesel haul this train beyond Milford they should / would have said so in the letter as this has been suggested for some days. There are also two paths on RTT showing the diesel that brings in the stock in the morning being stabled in a siding at Edge Hill all day and one for a diesel running light from Carnforth to take over the train at Manchester in the evening. I fully appreciate things can change and no doubt they will but it does at least offer "crumbs of comfort" that maybe, just maybe, this train will be steam hauled throughout, well at least as far as Manchester on the return.

It's a minor issue. Why make such a big deal about it?

So if you went into a shop or online to purchase something and something totally different turned up, you would be happy about that ?, or are double standards acceptable where enthusiasts are concerned ?.

It's an innocent mistake that's (rightly) been corrected, and given it was corrected some hours before your post, I'd suggest your making a big deal about it for arguements sake.
