Well that's the plan as of today, what will happen may well be a bit different. Interesting to note no ECML....

Neither would I. As I understand it Halls can get no further west than Davenport where the platform edge puts them out of gauge.

So we're unlikely to see a Hall in Stockport then?

A monday night in Grange over Sands, lucky them!

Seems an odd one, unless it is planned to take the train up the Cumbrian Coast which I assume they cannot do unless its Mk2 or they seal all the windows? Otherwise its a return to Carnforth and run round on the Tuesday morning? Unless its purely to have enopugh hotel accomodation for the passengers as Carnforth is not exactly plush with hotels?

train 2 is advertised to go nowhere near Thornton. It runs as a separate train form Edinburgh via Bathgate, a rare route for steam indeed.

Train 2 – Edinburgh to Fort William Our train leaves Edinburgh Waverley hauled by ex-LNER steam locomotive No. 61994 “The Great Marquess”. We take the Bathgate line towards Glasgow

Far too early to speculate on this. Pointless.

The restriction on MK!'s around the Cumbrian Coast was lifted some time ago provided windows and doors in MK!'s are properly stewarded. RTC say hotels will be in the Lake District.

Did you mean "Devonport"? Would that explain the otherwise puzzling comments about Stockport and Buxton?

Yes, spot on. A Freudian slip by me for which I apologise.

Have you been to Grange over Sands, please don't condemn it without actually knowing the place. It's a very pleasant Edwardian seaside town with a variety of hotels etc. OK so it is unlikely to be able to accommodate the train load but there are plenty of other places within easy reach.

Is this the first Great Britain to be advertised without 6100 pulling a portion of the trip ?

Been there, worked there for three years, probably attended Christmas parties in all the hotels at some stage, in laws live around 3 miles from there is that enough for me to proffer an opinion?

It's very pretty but I imagine a train load of people descending there on a Monday night could stretch things as I have struggled to find places to eat high season on a Saturday.
