    OMG!

Can you imagine all the work that will cause me?

I've just changed all my letter heads from "Miserable Old Sod" to "Fat Old Miserable Bas..rd".

Now I've got to get it all re-printed to be, "Fat Old Miserable Boring Bas..rd".

Further to my previous post No. 252 regarding the diesel behind the GWR Directors Coach for the 31st Fellsman rail tour well it would appear that common sense came to bear and as we all know now that it was tucked in behind the steam. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone concerned with the trip (WCRC, Statesman Rail and The Gravy Train Co.) which was superb from getting on the train at Lancaster to getting off again. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the driver or the fireman's name for the northbound trip but both he and Gordon Hodgson and his fireman made it an enjoyable run. Alan of Statesman Rail (our steward) and Clare of The Gravy Train Co. worked their socks off to keep us informed and served with fine food, champers, horses doofers and plenty of tea, the chefs are to be applauded too for the quality of the meals.
This might seem a little long winded account of the trip but after all the rumours and false information the day was a total success as opposed to disaster. Once again thanks to all concerned

Rumours about a loco on the front with Chains driven valve gear were false, and thankfully the rain had not caused a Landslide. Sara was great as a stewardess, and, Oh, Diane too. The stories about the diesel going on the back were Sweet Little Lies spread by Rhiannon who subsequently was told to Go Your Own Way by the on train Gipsy. All this meant the day was so good everyone on board went home to a superb Dream.

Any informed speculation on the motive power for the 15guinea Fellsman on Wednesday?
Are 46115 and 45699 both still at York?
If so the Carnforth pool on Wednesday will be 44932, 45231, 61994, 48151, 70013 and 34067 unless some other moves take place in the next 36 hours or so.

I am wondering the same. Cromwell is moving to Carnforth tomorrow? It is fun to speculate. What shall be operating out of York this week? A bunch of le moves

Has Galatea been fixed yet, after whatever mishap caused her to be replaced on the SSE on 25th July? I've heard rumours of middle cylinder troubles, but don't know how accurate that is. If not, I'd guess a Black 5 would deputise, probably 45231. Although they'd be limited to 60mph, that would be quite a good combination.

Chatting in the pub with a fellow Southern fan yesterday, we wondered if Ollie and Tangmere would be the locos, but that was just a bit of fun ;-)

Nothing on RTT to move to or from York for the next couple of days, so appears 45699 and 46115 are staying at York this week. Black 5 and 70013 on Wednesday's tour then? Bit more authentic for 15 Guinea special than a Jub and a Scot.

I was thinking that might be the case based on the Ollie's le move tomorrow. 45231 and 70013, that would make a great combination.

Making more speculation, I haven't checked, but are there any paths put in the system for Keighley - Hellifield and/or similar/Blackburn etc....? Could mean 45305 getting a run out and back with 70013?

46115 and 45699 were at York this morning and neither was noticeably in steam.

An authentic 1968 combo of 8f and black 5 perhaps? Possibly explains the reason for the move back to Carnforth by the 8.

I've lost track, where's 44932 and is that fit? I thought back in May things were looking potentially a bit tighter than last year. Next two weeks up to the 1968 anniversary weekend is really the peak of the peak. Just hoping for one or two rainy days like yesterday between now and then so it looks authentic on Sunday week. As it stands, they're going to need 70013, three black 5s plus 46115 for the Waverley that day.

Reported elsewhere that 70013 is stopping at Crewe today which would appear to rule it out of the running for the special Fellsman. If 44932 is ftr might be double headed 5s?

The three black 5's will be 45305, 44932 and 45231 according to the letter recieved with the e-ticket yesterday for next Sundays trip.
