Don't they also own the petrol locomotive or is that "officially" hived off into an owning group?

Yes, that is Bluebell owned - which is why I said "diesel locomotive"... :)

Last time I saw it, it was butane/propane powered.
    Has it reverted to petrol?

Only just seen on the Bluebell website but Giants Of Steam gala has now been cancelled in October. Disappointed but I guess with our loco problems very understandable. It does say that an alternative event will be arranged for the weekend.

A Deltic would go down well, it would really bring the crowds in.

Yes, except it's wrong line! That's a popular photo location, but we hardly ever depart using the loop line which would look more prototypical (even though it is fully signalled for passenger movements to / from platform 3, our normal up platform) on account of a sharp crossover from platform 3 to that line. On normal operating days, I can only remember two or three days when I have been footplate crew and departed via the loop, and only one or two arrivals.

    Nice photo though.

It seems RTC are running 2 Blue Belle Explorer railtours.

The first on 28th September runs from Worcester to Sheffield Park with 70013 and returning by diesel.

The second on 9th November is far more interesting. It starts at Cannon Street and runs first to Uckfield and then down to the Bluebell. Its hauled by 34067 but the tour is top and tailed throughout by either a LNER B1 or LMS Black 5.

I personally hope its a B1 (I don't mind which although as I've said here before my Grandad knows one of the saviours of 61264) but when was the last time a tour left Cannon Street? I remember 34027 leaving there in the early 2000's when she was painted Hogwarts red.

This is quite a coup in many ways.

    Steam out of Cannon Street.
    Steam through London Bridge.
Steam on the London Bridge to East Croydon line.
    Steam to Uckfield.
    Steam to East Grinstead.
    A B1 south of London.

Very, very promising. Problem is don't know whether to book or to phot...

I did have a feeling that 34067 did run out of Cannon Street once before but wasn't sure.
