Looking on UK Steam info web site today. Next years rail tours are starting to fill the calendar. One that stands out for me is.
    Sunday 6th April
    THE ATLANTIC COAST EXPRESS
    London Waterloo-Exeter
    34067: Waterloo-Surbiton-Honiton-Exeter
    34046: Exeter-Honiton-Surbiton-Waterloo
[34067 banker from Exeter St Davids to Exeter Central on return]

Find out if Network Rail is going to bother increasing the clearance under Oborne Road Bridge at Sherborne before you get excited about this trip!

Of the 2 trips proposed this year. 1 was cancelled, and the other was diesel hauled as far as Salisbury on the return.
Unless Network Rail sorts out the clearance issue Eastbound at Sherborne, it will not run as advertised

Exactly what I was going to say! Regrettably, RTC have much "form" in this area which makes me very loathe to give them my hard-earned cash.

And you may have spotted that Tangmere is doing two things on the same day on April 26th next year. It might be fun to ask WCR what trip their engine is really working........assuming they know.

Not seen that until you mentioned it but I think people are getting used to loco substitutions / absences now. Advertising routes / itineraries with known issues for steam however is not so easy to understand.

Steam Dreams is running the ACE next September down and back up the (proper) West of England main line. My money is on NR sorting Oborne Bridge out by then or they will have the might of the SD management to answer to!

I see that on 29th March, RTC are promoting a re-run of this year's "Wansbeck" tour, which was advertised as travelling to Ashington, North Blyth and Boulby - except it couldn't go to Ashington because the crossover north of the station has been taken out, North Blyth was only negotiated on the ground on the day, and it couldn't go to Boulby because of annual track maintenance. Since the same destinations are quoted for 2014, one assumes RTC will have taken care of all these issues well in advance!
