Any news on a wtt for this event yet? We're only a couple of weeks away and by now there would normally be a download wtt on the Swanage website. I can see a general running times tt for passengers etc but nothing that includes good running and possible loco allocations.

Should be out within the next day or so. It is out a little later than usual as there is still a possibility of an additional visitor, so there are two versions of the loco diagrams (as well as two versions of the crew roster!) prepared, but the decision has been taken to publish the 6-loco version, and if the other loco does in fact turn up, then its a bonus!

Many thanks, Paul42. I couldn't find it from the official website; maybe it had been cached on my PC.

Also, thanks to Pete12000. The WTT shows something for everyone. I'm no fan of double heading, but it is more 'authentic' here than most places. I imagine that, in the 'real steam' days there was a lot of double heading on a summer Saturday, when through trains with big engines mixed with local trains, and those big engines had to get back, over a single track branch, to main line sheds and duties.

Looks a good line-up. Sorry to raise another question, but am I right to assume that the tank locos will be facing Swanage while the tender engines will all run (including 31806) facing Wareham?

    Thanks

Looks like 31806 has been unloaded to face North looking at the photos on the Swanage Railway website. I think we can rest assured that the West Country and Battle of Britain will remain facing North!

Hope they're going to give the M7 a spin for the double headed runs with the U!

Just seen a photo of the M7 leaving Swanage - it has indeed had a spin and was piloting Eddy off.... looked good even in the awful weather

I was at Swanage on Thursday evening. Manston was in an immaculate condition whereas Eddystone has been allowed to weather to a typical 1960s appearance.
A nice contrast indeed. Both locos were facing north as was the U Boat. Such a shame that the weather has deteriorated. <BJ>
