Speaking personally, more turns for 1501 and 4160 would probably be more of a draw than a further visitor - no need to risk spreading things too thin! :)

I agree that you can certainly get away with this strong line up: 1501, 4160, 43924, 45305, 90733, 1054, 1704.

Best of the West may well have gone west to a degree, pity, however, all Manor of things are possible (sorry all puns intended), there are a fair few of them knocking around these days. One would make a nice alternative, clearances should be better than a Castle.

'22 will be at somewhere between WSR and Avon Valley.
'12 will be on her way home from WSR, and with an SVR loco already at KWVR can't see 2 going.
'27/'28 are down South, so unless they are happy to pay an expensive transport bill can't see one attending.

It be nice to see 7903 join the party. Named loco and would bring together 2x Hawksworth locos. When was the last time that happened?

Erm it is ether the way it has been worded and a NR Gauging issue or sometime since 1994 the KWVR have done some relaying which has reduced a clearence somewhere eg through a platform.

I'd say " due to gauging problems on the KWVR" is pretty clear?

in the last two year's there has been a lot of track replecement, my guess would be the bridge just before you get into ingrow from keighley, but it could ealy be one of the curved stations.

This is the reply I received from KWVR when I queried Nunney's non appearance
The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway (official)

Shep - the loco has just had all it's axle boxes re done for mainline running. The crossover at Keighley is the problem as it's over what the BR handbook says for a GWR Castle Class.

Just to clarify some of the questions. The Loco owning group informed us last week that the loco would not be allowed to traverse Keighley West Crossover because of the tight radius curves involved on that. So it wasn't a total ban on the loco attending but it would have made running it 99% impossible without impeding on other moves or messing the timetables up completely. This was a shock to us too, and without going into too much detail we didn't think there was a problem either. It has nothing to do with KWVR re laying etc, it is simply the fact that it is a tight curve and the loco has just had all it's axleboxes re done to mainline std, optically aligned etc.

We are grateful that the SVR/Erlestoke Manor Fund has allowed the loco to attend at short notice. "Best of the West" still very much a go! Now with 7812, 1501 & 4160

Any idea when the timetable will be available? Do KWVR run all engines on all here days?

I know from previously galas the "home fleet" does sometimes get rotated between days of operation.

I have KWVR produced rosters for October 2010, February 2011, October 2011, October 2012, March 2013 showing full timetable / loco information, which were available online before the event :):):)

Looking forward to this gala, a couple of questions though:

    1) the working timetable (now available on the website) says that the first train out of Oxenhope will be 9.35 ECS - is this correct (normally the 9.30-ish at a gala is a service train) - if so the first service train out of Oxenhope is the 10.20 which seems a bit late;
    2) according to the WTT the freight workings will be in the afternoon - leaving Keighley at 15.20 returning at 16.10 then going again at 17.20. But the press release says there will be an early morning freight - which is correct?

Like I say, I'm looking forward to this Gala, so is the Old Man, he's not a fan of the GWR but he'll put up with it for the sake of a ride on the KWVR!:)
