Don't shoot the messenger but I've just been informed that it's the airpump.
I'm 90 miles away so unfortunately not able to verify that.
Let's await further gen from others on the scene. <BJ>

At Hampton Loade.... Still no sign of the Duchess. At the moment kinlet is on her turn with the pig on kinlets. No idea what's now on the freight. Any one know what's wrong with the duchess?

1501 is on the freight. I believe there is a problem with the air pump on 46233. Taken from SVR forum:
Sounds like there will be a fair bit of train juggling this afternoon!

That is exactly what I shall be doing tomorrow! :)

I don't know the line, and the last thing I want after a long drive up is to be tear-arsing around strange country looking for photo spots!!

I'll ride the cushions and get photo's the best I can......................................... ;)

Thank you Mr Kerr, I appreciate you taking the time to post this information but I've made some other plans now. I'm at a stage in life where I can either take railway events or leave them. I happen to have a free day tomorrow and quite fancied seeing and having a ride behind SKP. I would have made a 250 mile round trip, paid for a day rover and spent money on food and drink at the SVR. All I wanted to know was what locos would be on what train so that I could plan my day a little beforehand. I really hope you enjoy your day though and thank you again.

It was pretty easy to work out what was substituting what - the timetable was maintained pretty well.

I attend a lot of galas each year, but absolutely nothing gets anywhere near the quality of the SVR autumn event. Today was another excellent example. Trains were all busy but none seemed too full. It helped that there were 8 carriage rakes behind 3 of the 4 locomotives doing the all line work. By my reckoning there were 37 carriages in service during the day today, with others to be utilised this evening and over the weekend, which is a different scale to almost every other line in the country. 46233's failure this morning was a pity, but it was in fine form this afternoon. And in fact the failure gave those of us on board a little treat, as Kinlet Hall came on and was so intent on making up time that it roared up Eardington Bank so loudly they must have heard it in three counties! Met 1 also gave an excellent performance. My only previous trip behind her was on the demonstration line at Quainton so it was lovely to see her doing proper work. I enjoyed seeing freight getting out and about during the day as well. Sir Haydn was getting a lot of attention, and I counted no fewer than 17 wagons and vans in this evening's rake!

My first batch of processing done. Yesterday was a good day, I was impressed with how the railway coped with the temporary failure of 46233 it the morning. The timetable was kept and delays not allowed to slip. Connections at the stations where I was were all made and the staff were in good spirits and typically friendly. Watching 4936 depart from Hampton Loade at 9.30pm, exhaust illuminated from the glow of the firebox, nice crisp beats, was great.

An excellent day at the SVR Friday, a bonus of 46233 'missing' it's first round trip was that 4936 covered for 46233 and 43106 covered a daytime round trip for 4936.

more variety as I needed to leave late afternoon !!

I must be mad! to moor I'm leaving at 4 am to catch the 5:22 am at kidderminster and then the breakfast run! I know it's a gala and all of that, but how busy are these overnight trains, say at 5 o'clock, just out of interest? I can't imagine many families at that time, nor can I imagine your average punter hopping on, o_O hope theres at least someone to talk to that won't just spout numbers at me, my knowledge of loco numbers is restricted to the locos on the GWSR, and a few of the LNER's flagship locos (mallard and FS for example!)plus the occasional one that plants itself in my memory for a few days, oh, and MET no. 1:D looking forward to my first (partially) in the dark gala!

excellent picture there, I saw cheltenham on the GWSR in May, although I couldn't be there for the gala, it was nice it turned u early to do some normal services. I like the contrast it has with the teak set there, looks brilliant, southern loco with LNER stock!
