    LMS 46115 Scots Guardsman moved from Carnforth to Edinburgh in the early hours of the 23rd of September for a promotion for the upcoming Ryder cup at Gleneagles in 2014 and is heard North of Oxenholme in the darkness and fog .Nothing special just one for the record .

    Nice sounds on this, I must admit to having a chuckle at what you had done.
    The late Peter Handford nearly got arrested for rustling doing sound recordings during the night on the Central Wales line.
    I really must try this sort of thing in the dark with my sound recording gear.

    Sound recording at night can give interesting and excellent sounds. I have encountered some strange individuals while doing it though.

    Thanks all , it was a bit spooky in the dark but once I could hear the Scot it made up my mind that it was worth it after all .

    Not entirely unsurprisingly, we were reciting 'Night Mail', as "dawn freshened and the climb was done", on the descent from Beattock.

    I did actually think of Night Mail when I was waiting for your special James . I bet it was a fantastic ride over Shap and Beattock in the dark !
