Great footage from the day! Certainly she's sounding a lot nicer after some more tinkering back at Carnforth.

Very lucky there aswell Ralph, the warm autumn light being far too relaxing tonight?

Some superb videos and pictures on this thread. Looks like it was a cracking run with 45699 with a stirring soundtrack. The videos I found on YT show the passengers had everything on this run : Fast running, strong climbing and even a nail-biting slog all with good weather. 45699 looked most impressive on a load of 13.

The one at Wigan has a nice bit of Doppler on the whistle at 1:19.

Amazing footage, very eerie that clip with the curch bell sounding in the foreground.

But that last shot, words can't do it justice! Shows exactly what is meant when it's said that a steam locomotive is a living, breathing body instead of just hulks of metal.

Excellent video. The final shot could almost be a Philip D Hawkins painting.

Thank you very much Jonathon. A good slice of luck with the church bells, and the conditions and open firebox doors for the final shot; the low amount of coal in the tender probably also helped. It was a joy to experience as she could be heard all the way from the bottom of the climb - spine tingling stuff in the gloaming.

Thanks very much indeed - sometimes you get lucky, and I could not have imagined that the glow from the firebox would be that good.
