It was almost invisible through the pouring rain at Kirkby Stephen! Running about 10 late but going well. I got soaked in the 15 minutes I was out of the waiting room.

Great shot Mike, good angle for a Scot and plenty of clag. The parked cars have been nicely avoided too!

That is some great stuff-real tingly at Scout Green. Let's hope for better conditions when on next week. Moody footage I must say, however.

A good day out with 46115 who performed well. Railhead conditions were pretty tricky and the start from Carnforth was so slow up to MP 9.5 (min of 17!) that I began to wonder how far we would actually get. It was a case of controlled slipping all the way up to Grayrigg that we topped at only 24. But then on the easier grades she was opened up and we shot through Tebay at 70 ish and then gunned up Shap with sanders on and an easing over the last mile so she would keep her feet. 27 at the summit but then as we were a few minutes late she was allowed to run on down into Carlisle (and was therefore rather fast around Southwaite). The return over Ais Gill was even more accomplished in driving rain and wind. The two TSRs near Low House and through Culgaith tunnel really take the pace out of the climb but Gordon Hodgson pushed her on through Lazonby although the TSRs either side of Helm Tunnel made the final ascent quite slow. Over the top at 29 with a minimum of 26 at MP262. The pathing and water stop at Appleby was only for the brave as it was sluicing it down by then. Back on time. Well done to crews and support staff for a good day out.

My E-tickets came today and the load is again 8 + Kitchen Car + POB, the only change being a second First Class is in instead of a Standard Class. WCRC guys assured us today that Galatea's valve problems have been resolved and it will be on next week's train. So here's hoping. Had a problem with brakes dragging on the outward today. Railhead was also poor on many sections of the route leading to slipping and some gentle handling. Guess it might be worse next week as the leaf fall season is well underway.

Thought the train was great yesterday with, it appeared a whole rake of Mk 1's. From the video's the Scot sounded as good as I've heard it. Mr Smith seemed to have it well tuned up. Let's hope the added first mentioned above is not one of those 'sealed coffins'.
