One less shot than I intended, but here is my footage of 5043 'Earl Of Mount Edgcumbe' with 'The Cotswold Explorer', roaring up Sapperton Bank this morning.

I'll add my video of today's run to the list.
Thought I'd try my luck around the Worcester area, hope you enjoy.

Some nice sounds and sights up Sapperton chaps.

Nice capture that was ! The dark background really enhances the end result. Lower Moor is one my favorite locations going and have filed there a few times in the last 18 months. Clip of 6201 powering up Lower Moor

Thanks, she was certainly getting a move on there, I thought with the Monsoon going on it was going to be a waste of time, but wasn't too bad a shot in the end.

For those of you who weren't around Evesham and Honeybourne yesterday, David is not exaggertaing in calling it a monsoon. As we came out of Campden tunnel we became aware that the sky in front was a very dark shade of grey. By the time we got to Honeybourne the rain was torrential and I cannot remember ever being on an engine in such heavy rain before, (although I can remember the odd blizzard). Despite this and the usual rubbish about GW cabs it was pretty well head on to us and conditions in the cab were quite comfortable, which is more than you can say for a couple of souls/heroes under a brolly at the far end of the down platform at Honeybourne! There was some quite frequent cranking of the window wipers (only the GW had those!!) in order to stand some chance of seeing something of the road ahead. By the time we got to Norton junction, there was a marvellous double rainbow, but we didn't have time to stop for excavations at the end of it.

David have you dried out yet, it must have been pretty uncomfortable out there

    Regards
    Bob

I'm just uploading a couple of shots to YouTube (taking ages!) Eventually they should be here:

That's probably the last shot I'll take from the bridge at Compton Beauchamp. Once the wires are up, it won't be anything like so attractive.

Hah! Snap! Good to meet you on Saturday, James. Did you get to work on time? BTW, your locations aren't between Bourton and Shrivenham, since Bourton is west of Shrivenham. The first is at Shrivenham (more or less) and the second is a mile further east, so you could say they are between Shrivenham and Uffington.

I like the crows playing chicken in the first shot. Some creatures have no respect for GW locos..and birds too ;)

Well I was, and it was pretty much a perfect railtouring day out. The climbs of Sapperton and Old Hill were the highlights. Listening to the superbly even beat of the Earl attacking a climb is a pleasure that never palls. Travelling at 75mph on the gentle downgrade between Swindon and Didcot sounded almost effortless and I would be interested to know the regulator and reverser settings used.

Thanks to VT, WCRC and Network Rail for a grand day out.

A quick blast up to 90mph on the GW main line? We can but dream!

Juggling the worlds biggest umbrella in the left hand with camera in the right worked out quite well, the poor fella next to me however looked in serious threat of drowning.

Hi, looked pretty good - and that's from a Southern man. I would be interested to know regulator opening and cut off used on the final pitch of Sapperton. Remembering the Steam Dreams trip out of Gloucester with 73096, the driver told us he was out to 50% cut off and fully open for the last mile or so before the tunnel - the Castle didn't look or sound quite that pushed but I'd be surprised if it was less than 40% (although only 9 on?).

Any train crew or support crew on this forum who would know?

Thanks to all the video posters - some great shots and footage.

Kristian, that's brilliant - thanks for posting. Are both clips real time or did you have to speed up the HST clip to show it keeping pace with 5043 :).
