The one person everybody should be thanking is Jeremy Hosking the quiet man of railway preservation.

Enjoyed that, particularly when she disappeared in a cloud of steam at the end, very emotive. [IMG]

Absolutely wonderful!! The Kings Cross sequence was especially evocative, well filmed and edited and oh, that echoing chime whistle!!

    Many thanks for sharing.

    Cheers

My GPS log shows 91.7 mph at OS 79284 64410 which is near the north end of the Carlton loops.

Sorry David but I feel you'll be getting this for the next few days, but I'll put my request in...

Rossington LC - http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=462995&Y=397030&A=Y&Z=120 , while I know it wasn't officially on the 90mph section, just wondering the speed roughly she passed us. Thanks.

Many thanks for those. We were admiring the pink clouds and I hoped someone would be photographing from the east side of the line.

We certainly were David. The trouble was, we didn't really have much of a clue when it came to locations on the ECML. Made life a bit easier to join forces and to have some company on the trains getting us ahead of the A4! :)

Good call RE: Mr Hosking, god knows how many potential runs Bittern had to turn down with the two postponements, doubt many others could afford to lose that kind of income.

Very impressive in the twilight. This was at Woodcroft Crossing just after Helpston - about 4.22pm. Would be interested to know the speed at this point.

Set aside for the moment his ability (and the inclination) to finance such a remarkable fleet of main line and other steam. The fact that he has chosen to impartially choose from across the regions is an even handed action. We all have our favourites, of course, but through him we can all enjoy something we value.

A great day for steam - another faultless performance from Bittern, well done to all concerned, just wish I'd been there, so a big thanks to al those who've posted up their videos. Did anyone actually capture her at 90+? I found this clip on Youtube, and she certainly seems to be shifting there ....

James, James, James!!!......................... its Dave NOT david............................................

The only people to call me that are me Mum & the Mrs..................... then I know I'm in trouble...................................................

I know what you mean about not being familiar with somewhere....................BUT even then, sometimes it can actually pay off to not go with the gallery!

Anyway, BACK on topic, just to echo the sentiment of others, I too doff my cap in JH's direction for his generosity in keeping Bittern available for these distinguished runs! :)
