Will the timetable with roster be made available before the event again as in the last few previous years free of charge?

Quick question if I may...I am attending on the Sunday and according to this page...

    http://www.svr.co.uk/SpecialEvents-View.aspx?id=65

You can book one of two tickets, a day Rover or a Sunday Saver, the Sunday Saver being £3.10 cheaper (in advance). Is there a difference? I, I just want a ticket that allows me to get on and off the trains as I please during the day on Sunday. Seemed strange I had a choice!

It does seem strange, maybe a flaw in the system. As the website says
So unless I'm missing something, it should be fine. As far as I'm aware the 'sunday saver' is the day rover but with money off to encourage people to come on the sunday. So I'd go for the saver if I were you.

Thanks for the reply, one of those 'seems too good to be true' so thought I would check! I would understand a Friday saver, being a weekday, but I would of thought a Sunday would of been quite a popular day anyhow. Will book two!

From my experience of the past few years (2009 ASG onwards), saturday is the busiest, friday is second and then sunday. Sunday has the problem of rubbish public transport and generally the sunday has a slightly quieter timetable. If you're visiting on Friday and Sunday, you're probably see the most variation. Friday and Saturday tend to quite similar.
Hopefully, this little GWR/BR(W) gala will prove popular, every little helps...

Ahh that makes sense, I can only go Sunday as I have a Brighton season ticket and they have selfishly decided to play Ipswich on the Saturday so travelling up after the match, got a couple of nights accommodation sorted. Should be a good one, looking forward to it. Thanks for replying.

I also saw the Sunday Saver and as its my first time at this gala, I wondered if the Sunday is much quieter than the Saturday. Does anyone know if trains run into the night on the Fri / Sat as at Swanage galas? What time does it usually kick off in the mornings? Sadly, there's no indication on the website yet and I could do with planning my travel / hotels etc to fit with the operating day. Thanks for any advice....

Going from last years WTT which I still have saved to a usb drive, about 9 am for the first KR and evening trains run till 8.30/9pm departing the ends. So potential more than 12 hours of action each on the friday and saturday...

And having a look at 2012's WTT (again I still have it saved for some reason), then it was an either start but about the same finish.

There are a number of photocharters associated with the SVR spring gala and using 4566, 1638 and 6435 for the almost perfect BR(W) branch line

If you would like more details please PM me and I'll forward them on

I'll leave you with a taster from last year

coming over from Canada, have positioned myself in Wolverhampton only to discover there is no public
transport on Sunday to Bridgnorth. Would willingly pay for a ride to Bridgnorth in the am.
Thought maybe the SVR would run a vintage bus but no such luck.

For what its worth the working members copy is marked "private and not for publication". It is also rather a large file at nearly 6MB Watch this space.

The WTTs when sent out at previous SSGs and ASGs have always had this printed on the cover, would be nice to see it on SVR live just like last year.

Interesting to see the 28 on goods Fr/Sat at around 6pm heading south. This goods working (around this time) is normally found heading north, so will certainly be something different. Is the 28 facing south?
