The rumour is Swanage and has been for some months. We will just have to wait and see what happens in August, unless a statement is issued by the owner or the railway it is going to.

 

Same here. It did not attend the Autumn Gala because there was too much double heading for my liking. Please can double heading in general be kept to a minimum, a couple of full line runs at most.

 

A person who was involved with Gala's at another Railway commented on here in the last couple of years, that what is actually available and is affordable taking into transport costs is quite limited.

I would like to see a Manor visit, but with Foxcote being out of action, Lydham rarely allowed out, Can the Severn Valley do with out 7812 ? (with Sir Keith Park out of action and 5164 going out of ticket ?) so that leaves Odney.

 

Interesting choice of having 34046 back so soon after the Autumn Gala. I would guess she is the "cheaper" option as she only has to move down from Southall. Or she is replacing another loco that they were after but couldn't get for the event.
Perhaps she might bring 5029 down with her if 5029 still fits down the line to Alton? I missed the last visit of 5029 to the MHR when 4936 was also visiting.

I will be glad to see 34046 again as she didn't manage to run for all of the Autumn Gala. She was also rather quiet on the solo turns as she was being nursed up the banks. Hopefully she will only run solo for the Spring Gala.
Regarding 31806: will she be out of use between her visit to the WSR in late March and her departure from the MHR in August? Rather odd that it says on the Gala page that it will be the last opportunity to see her in action on the MHR.

 

60163 may be back sometime this year as the A1 trust are intending to focus operations more on visiting ML connected Heritage Railways at Peak operating periods rather than operate lots of ML charters.

The way I read it, is, its your last chance to ride behind at a GALA!! (though of course I could be completely wrong....................)

As once she's gone, I doubt very much she'd ever be back....................................

 

I think what they are saying. It's the last time 31806 will be available to ride behind at a MHR gala. I sure will see 31806 in action until the agreement runs out.

They might want to change this sentence from the Gala page though as others might get the same impression from it as I did:

" it will be the last chance to see the U Class 31806 as she is due to leave us in August."

 

Same here mainly because the train I planned to get on with her was the one she failed on when I went to the Autumn Gala so would be nice to get a ride behind her this time.

 

So with any luck someone from the railway will read this and take note that people don't want double heading with 34046.

Certainly a coup for the MHR!

Question is - will she doing solo turns? Because I think a LOT of people will want to get some very rare haulage........................... unless of course you can afford a trip on the VSOE!!

 

Although the crowd it will be pulling will be considerably less well dressed than the usual crowd it pulls...

 

Same could be said about most of the coaching stock as well........................................................ Though I reckon she'll get a turn or two on the Pullmans!

I for one am looking forward to seeing (and hearing) her storming the banks.

Great News. Three Bulleids running at a MHR gala it doesn't get much better.

 

Double heading of 5/6 coach trains does not appeal.

 

Can't wait to see 35028 not normally seen on preserved lines or galas
