None unpreserved in the UK. Turkey? Last seen 30-odd years ago. I would not plan on finding a spare one anywhere.

I've removed some initial posts before this turns into a witch hunt although Nat Pres is quite astute in assessing the viability of a project

Stuart , perhaps you would like to be clearer in your aims and what you are looking for or have achieved so far .

What happened about the P&B's 'Dean Goods' boiler which IIRC was for sale? Or is that a different 'Dean Goods' new build group? Ray.

its unknown to who it was sold to as P&B wont say , depends on what the new owners use the boiler for , for it to be a conflicting scheme .

The Dean Goods Locomotive Group has been created with the aim to build a new member of the Dean Goods class which will run on preserved Railways around the united Kingdom.
We are hoping to be able to build the locomotive within a reasonable timescale depending on how quickly the funds flow into the pot and how quickly we can get all the parts made and constructed,
We think it is Better to make a New Locomotive as apposed to restoring 2516 as the aim is to have a regular use loco rather than running a valuable Museum Piece.
we are also going to try and do some of the work ourselves to keep costs to a minium and the bits we cant do ourselves will be contracted out to contractors.

Was restoring 2516 ever a realistic proposition? I would imagine the NRM are quite happy with it where it is at STEAM.

Can you tell us what your business plan is?
You are planning to use Contractors I see so the cost is likely to be quite high. If Tornado cost (say) 1million with a lot of volunteer input, how much do you think your loco will cost? Possibly less than the Million perhaps with no main line use, but not much I'd guess.
You have a Board of Directors I see, does that mean you have formed a Limited Company?
Once built, who will own the loco?

Only for the work that we can't do and the work we do ourselves we have free use of the machines, directors / trustees, and we are still in the early stages

ah trustees too....you have formed a trust...does that mean you are applying for charitable status? That may be a possibility and would have advantages.

The Dean Goods boiler at the P & B was sold to a member, i believe he bought it to help fund the purchase of 9629's original boiler from Didcot. If someone came along with a good proposal for the use of the boiler and paid him the price he paid for it im pretty sure he would sell it. The only reason he bought it was to safeguard the boilers future.

One would have thought that this group would have made contact with the owners of 2516 before announcing plans to restore said loco - out of common courtesy if nothing else. Research seems sadly lacking here and I don't see this project, like its predecessors, getting any further than a Farcebook fantasy. Ray.

Err, he did say "another group run by andy and charlie , was aiming to extract and overhaul 2516", rather implying it wasn't "this group"'s plan. (Not making any statement about either group, their plans, or the viability of same, just pointing out what was said.)
