    Tricky. If you ban mention of one end of the spectrum one should also ban mention of the other and then what do you do when GWR 4004 comes into the conversation?

    I like the incorrect caption of picture No 1. According to the caption taken in 1938, but must have been taken during the exchange trials, as she is in Sonning Cutting, and has British Railways on the tender:)

    No, that would be the anti-torpedo bulges on H.M.S. Renown (well one of them) when engaged against the "Twins" off Stromvaer when the old battlecruiser was going close to flat out in dreadful conditions engaging the two ships either of which should have been, on paper, a match for the R. N. ship. However Renown was not excused from fleet gunnery exercises without good reason.
