62712 'Morayshire' is currently mid-way through a repaint into early crest lined black at Bo'ness, funded by Timeline Events (photo events by Neil Cave). She is initially due to operate four days of photo charters in early May, details of which, and photos of the repaint progress, can be seen at https://facebook.com/PhotographyPhotoEventsByNeilCave

That's a shame. I'm rather partial to LNER green.

The repaint is only for 12 months, after which she will be withdrawn for a boiler overhaul and will return In apple green. The resultant photo charters will provide useful funds for said overhaul!

Given how rare she's been a photo charter subject you probably could have painted her pink and got away with it. :)

So when will her last workings be (roughly). Wouldn't mind to try and get up to see her in Black.

Ticket due to expire March 2015 but nothing confirmed as to the official withdrawal date as of yet. 62712 will be appearing at both the mixed traffic gala on May 31st/ June 1st (Her first gala in Black) and the Steam gala on October 18th/19th at Bo'ness. She'll probably be running various other regular services as well but as per usual it's subject to availability.

    one less in pre-1948 livery.

isn't 4464 the only one left on the mainline.. well 4965 if you consider GWR different from BR Green.

There is a financial benefit to repaint 246 into black and it is only for 12-18 months. If someone who wouldn't like to see it in black would like to donate the cost of the repaint (the Darlington green paint was in dire condition), the estimated £5k+ in steaming fees from photo charters and the spin off effects of press coverage in the railway media I'm sure the railway would be happy to hear from you.

Otherwise, it's 18 months in black, live with it! She'll return in Apple green!

Photos of the work that took place on day 4 of the repaint have been put up by Neil Cave at:
    https://facebook.com/PhotographyPhotoEventsByNeilCave

(Please note, not meaning to sound rude, just wish that people would acknowledge that the paint is temporary!)

    Hi

I was wondering if anyone could provide an update on the current overhaul please? I’ve seen on another thread that Morayshire will hopefully be back for the Bo’ness and Kinneil Gala in November. Are there any plans to run her in at Llangollen? The reason I ask is l’ve never seen this beautiful loco, and Llangollen is a lot easier for me to get to than Bo’ness!

    TIA

    Stan

As overhauls go, yes it is pretty much to plan.

No plans for public running in at Llangollen.
