The tender is now at the SVR to be rebuilt for one of the manors (possibly 7802). I'm not quite sure if all the spares were sold, but a fair few of the items have moved on. 6880 have acquired several components.

It would have been a decent project when it was first put up for sale, as it was for the job lot. Loco, Tender and all spares that found or made. It had an almost complete set of motion (or motions), but no one was interested. Now its a set of frames, boiler and wheels, with whatever is left of the spares.

    Did you mean a U1?

In 1931 Beyer Peacock & Co did design a locomotive for Collett using a pair of engine units based on the 2800 class, but it never got beyond the drawing board (until now?).

I did mean W1 - most outlandish loco I could think of but you're sounds even better! We really shouldn't be giving Stuart all of these ideas though...

Help us build a replica of 111 The Great Bear...
the engine will carry the number 112 The White Elephant

If demand is sufficient we can build a 2nd example 113 The Flying Pig

before we know it, 2859 will be a zoo.

I see the FB page now encompasses 47701 as well. Perhaps 2859 and 47701 will be used to create a steam/diesel hybrid? Can't fault him for enthusiasm.

Anyone know anything about this latest development, reasons etc? from what I could find on this loco on their website looks very odd "being denied rightful access to the locomotive, and enduring threats of violence made against the myself (owner's representative and son) and vandalism against the loco itself"

will make an interesting match anyway, maybe this is Stuart "joining another preservation group"...

That reference, although in "latest news", was posted over 2 years ago. I assume that this is yet another case of a private owner 'falling out' with the host railway and 47701 is still at Okehampton. What on Earth this has to do with 2859 God only knows! Ray.

Yes funny the same owners left coaches on the GWR for years, didn't pay any storage and then kicked up a fuss when the railway disposed of them after having enough.

ok, so the owner of 47701 has become interested in 2859 and hence Stuart, well I suppose it could have been worse, could have been Stuart trying to buy both. Perhaps now a little more confident now a previous loco owner is involved, but owning diesels is very different I imagine than steam, how much experience has 47701's owner got in steam?

No experience in owning steam and like I said earlier form for uncompleted projects/dumping rolling stock somewhere and getting upset when its removed for non payment of storage fees. Sounds a match made in heaven that!!! Also interesting in the reply is this bit -

However I seem to remember Stuart saying -
Seems communication could be an issue as Stuart seems to think that is conclusive where as the bit quoted doesn't sound that way to me.

Ah, so 47701 is to be converted to 122 "I used to a diesel"
