Sounds like they're theoretically looking at a max of a medium sized 4-6-0 in future then (do West Counties also qualify for RA6?), although it sometimes seems that it's as much a case of Network Rail picking and choosing exemptions on an individual basis than actually applying the RA index these days!

An A4 is only permitted on RA9 or RA10 routes.

NNR GM has just tweeted that 1638 from KESR is the replacement for 60007. Personally I'm quite happy with that!

1638 is now sporting BR black so looks a bit different from her last visit. I hope she plays her part in a successful gala. Have fun!

1638 maybe not as spectacular as SNG but look forward to seeing her in action! Well done guys at NNR for sorting a replacement at such short notice!

A light 4-6-2 may just get away with it, to give it some perspective, RA5 is what's allowed over Barmouth Bridge, so looks a bit more than Manor/Black Five standards.

Well done the NNR for managing to source a replacement guest engine at such short notice.

Just wondered if there is going to be a timetable published online?

There will be, but they are currently juggling and re-working to try to make some extra interesting things......

Looking forward to my first NNR gala on Saturday. Haven't seen 76084 and 44767 in steam before, so that alone is worth the visit for me

quote: "The Sheringham branch has been downgraded from Route Availability (RA) 9 to RA6, forcing the cancellation. We'll share more news as and when the NNR knows more."

    If so:
    A1 - RA9
    A3 - RA9?
    B1 - RA6
    Brit - RA7
    ROYAL SCOT - RA9
    JUBILEE - RA9?
    WC/BoB - RA6

More worryingly, Black 5s are RA7, which would halt the planned use of 44767 on Cromer to Sheringhams. Luckily the B12 is RA5 and 76084 is RA5 or under?

The 'Clan' will fit in nicely in a few years time, as well as few of the other new build projects. Great shame about SNG, it deserves a good run out to prove itself again and to give the hard pressed team some much needed pleasure.

Why was transporting it on a lorry not an option?

Notice at Sheringham station saying 1638 and 5619 have failed overnight. As I got on to the platform one of the station staff said 5619 would be running. While waiting for 8572 to depart, 1638 (complete with 60007 smokebox numberplate!) and 76084 roll in. D6732 was advertised as replacing 1638 so we'll see what happens. Weather - very wet!

Update - 1638 is on its booked working, but D6732 is currently working 5619's diagram.

Good question. I did wonder that myself. I am aware many loco owners don't like their locos going by road. Maybe Network Rail decision made it too late to organise? I am sure there is a valid reason.
Anyway, good luck to everyone for a successful gala. At least the weather is better than last year! Hope people are not put off by the non appearance of SNR.
